Main Tasks:
1. Polylab (Polymerization Laboratory) Operations:
? Manages the Polylab personnel and resources to maximize its productivity;
? Coordinates operations schedule of laboratory to minimize reactor downtime including scheduling reactor operators' vacation schedules and coordinating maintenance and planned down time;
? Provides leadership and guidance to Polylab personnel to ensure daily operations and maintenance of the Polylab assets and to minimize down time;
? Implements and complies with BASF Environmental, Health and Safety policies.
2. Production Support
? Leads Sr Engineer & Technicians to provide production support & manufacturing process improvement, including trouble-shooting, raw material validation and participation in quality assurance teams;
? Leads efforts to qualify identified raw materials (different grades/suppliers) for use in production through collaboration with R&D, Technical Marketing, Quality, Procurement, and Plants as appropriate;
? Ensures close cooperation and alignment with A-EDA Dispersion Plants and with the technology teams (regional and global);
? Provides general engineering & manufacturing support to production.
3. Process Development
? In collaboration with Global Technology, Production and R&D, develops new production processes for higher productivity, safer production processes, increased usage of manufacturing assests or better performing products;
? Supports new product introduction to plant through definition of robust operating conditions and product standardization with definition of specifications;
? Supports R & D scientists in producing lab and pilot scale samples for customers with a key focus on product quality and time to market.
Qualification and Experience
? Master's/ or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering or Polymer Science & Technology; PhD preferred
? at least 12 years experience of conducting scientific experiments in chemical labs (including study period);
? For PhDs: at least 5 years industrial experience in the field of chemical engineering or in chemical labs (including study period);
? For Master's: at least 8 years industrial experience in the field of chemical engineering or in chemical labs (including study period);
? fluent English (reading, writing and presenting);
? Advanced knowledge & experience in chemical engineering, polymer production processes or chemical process control are required; Familiarity with polymer emulsion (or latex or dispersion) technology or production process is beneficial; Successful track record of people management and team leadership skills; Understanding of design of experiments and statistics; Use of computers and appropriate softwares including Word and Excel, progamming skills a plus; English proficiency.At least 5 years experience in the field of chemical engineering or in chemical labs (including study period)
? fluent English (reading, writing and presenting) preferred
