Altair is now hiring Multiscale Scientist for the team working on their HyperWorks/Multiscale Designer product. See http://www.altairhyperworks.com/product/Multiscale-Designer for details. Multiscale Designer is an efficient tool for development and simulation of multiscale material models of continuous, woven, and/or chopped fiber composites, honeycomb cores, reinforced concrete, soil, bones, and various other heterogeneous materials. Applications include multiscale material modeling for design, ultimate failure, statistically-based material allowables, fatigue, fracture, impact, crash, environmental degradation, and multiphysics simulations. Multiscale Designer provides plugins to commercial FEA solvers including OptiStruct, RADIOSS, LS-DYNA, and Abaqus.

Job Responsibilities
Multiscale Designer core development is a young ambitious team with a lot of investment and spread around the world. We are proud of what we have done and it is fun doing what we are doing. This opening is aimed at expanding the development team in Beijing office. The Multiscale scientists/developers will be responsible for both developing the specific deterministic capabilities as well as solving the challenging scientific issues related to multiscale material modeling. Among the responsibilities are:
? Develop specific Multiscale Designer capabilities for each software release;
? Work with program management team to understand the use case and requirements and produce external and detailed design documentation.
? Solve any issues related to the component modeling, multiscale methods, and constitutive law modeling.
? Perform any other duties as requested by Project Manager/Director.

Requirements
Finite element method development expertise using Fortran and C++ language
Master's or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Civil Engineering or related field.
Strong analytical skills
Strong communication skills and fluent in English

Desirable but not necessary
Experience in using commercial FEA solvers Abaqus, LS-DYNA, OptiStruct and Radioss.
Experience in multiscale material modeling
Experience in manufacturing modeling
Experience in stochastic analysis
Knowledge of tcl, python and shell scripting
