JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering Manager, JIT
Reports to: Director Manufacture Seating, China
Location: Shanghai
Business Unit: Adient
Subordinate: 2-3

Job Purpose:
  1. The position will provide leadership to Seating JIT process engineering and manufacturing teams throughout China, and facilitate the application of new technology and manufacture systems within plants for a world class manufacturing environment.
  2. He/she will be actively involved in planning and organizing future Seating activities to improve product quality, delivery, and safety while minimizing manufacturing costs.

Responsibilities:
  1. Work with strategic, marketing and engineering teams to plan future JIT manufacturing capabilities in China.
  2. Oversee and work with each joint venture to continuously optimize and standardize assembly processes with regard to quality, delivery, safety, and costs. Introduce and improve methods to safeguard quality index
  3. Work with Joint Ventures to set up uniform collection and reporting of Seating plants measurable at all facilities to insure that Best Practices can be quickly identified and propagated throughout China.
  4. Identify the saving opportunities, develop and propose the action plan to reduce the manufacturing costs by automation, layout optimization, and improvements on maintenance, planning, logistics and quality.
  5. Analyzes problem areas, i.e., unsafe conditions, acts or equipment and take immediate action. If beyond his authority recommends possible solution.
  6. Support new program and new plant launch, analyze and report the investment plan, and ensure Adient standards to be followed and a benchmark line/plant to be built
  7. Manage, motivate and develop team members to ensure optimum performance, efficiency and effectiveness of the seating activities are achieved and business strategy is implemented.


Requirement:
  1. Bachelor or above in Engineering, such as mechanical or industrial
  2. 8+ years’ experience in automotive seating JIT, at least 3 years in engineering management function
  3. Strong knowledge in equipment, solid experience in tooling, fixtures selection, purchasing, and installation is preferred
  4. Good at cost analysis, assembly time calculation, manufacture feasibility study, PFMEA, safety, and control plan of new products
  5. Proven experience with Quality Standards (QS9000, TS16949) and Manufacturing Operating Systems, 6-sigma certificate is preferred
  6. Strong leadership and communication skills, experience in dealing with JV is highly preferred
  7. Energetic, highly motivated and self-confident, excellent presentation skills is preferred
  8. Fluent in both Mandarin and English, Germany is a plus.
