职位描述：

Summary of the Position:

This is a hands-on and highly technical role that requires extensive experience in Food chemical analysis. The incumbent works on problems in analytical chemistry that are directly in support of update to the FCC. These include development and validation of analytical methods, and general research for USP to represent current food analytical technology.

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Assists Director in assessing food chemical projects regarding the laboratory technical capability and resources availability; Carries out literature research and prepares project proposals independently

· Coordinates with Standard Acquisition Team to secure all required samples, reference standards, and reagents

· Takes the initiative to lead the project and team

· Conducts method development and validation and complete all reports within the timeline

· Presents project milestone progress and participates the scientific review

· Be actively involved in scientific discussion

· Facilitate additional cross-functional activities with other USP staff

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience:

Ph.D. degree in analytical chemistry, organic synthesis, food science, or other related scientific disciplines with 5 years or MS with 7 years of laboratory or industrial experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to shifting priorities

· Ability to effectively manage multiple parallel projects

· Must be able to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers

· Problem-identifying and trouble-shooting capabilities are musts

· Expertise in analytical method development and validation with HPLC, GC or IC is the prerequisite. Hands-on knowledge of LC/MS and GC/MS for elucidation is necessary. Proficiency in related analysis such as wet chemistry, spectroscopy, titration, and other physicochemical analysis is also required

· Highly motivated with excellent technical writing and oral communication skills

· Thorough understanding and working knowledge of USP FCC monographs and General Chapters

· Proven track record of introducing new or innovative technologies to the laboratory is a plus
