Overview
The Insurance Department procures and manages Marriott's insurance programs to protect the company and its customers against various property, liability, employee and financial risks.
The Insurance team is responsible for designing and marketing insurance programs and negotiating insurance pricing and terms. The department also reviews most legal agreements to limit the corporation’s exposure to loss and assure regulatory and contractual compliance. Insurance provided by franchisees is also monitored to ensure coverages are adequate so as to protect Marriott from uninsured risks. The team maintains broker and insurer relations and serves as a resource to Marriott’s core departments on insurance matters for coverage interpretation issues.
Overall Responsibilities:
The Insurance Analyst, Asia-Pacific supports the Insurance Department within the Asia-Pacific Continent with day to day operational elements of Marriott’s International Liability Insurance programs, including China and India insurance placements. Supports Senior Manager, Asia Pacific Insurance in the review and analysis of business case analyses (BCAs). Monitors insurance compliance for new international hotel openings and confirm insurance coverage. The position requires a detail-oriented person with excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as a demonstrated commitment to the risk management discipline.
Reporting Relationship:
The Insurance Analyst, Asia-Pacific reports to the Senior Manager, Asia Pacific Insurance.
Working Relationships:
The position interacts primarily with Hotel Directors of Finance, as well as Marriott’s Finance Department, Law Department, International Development, Asset Management, Operations, Franchisees, Owners, Vendors and Insurance Brokers.
Primary Responsibilities:
? Maintain international liability insurance location schedule (pipeline) including maintenance to ensure continuity of coverage for international insurance program.
? Assists the International Insurance team with the collection and reconciliation of renewal exposure information for company’s international liability insurance program to determine change in exposure that may impact pricing.
? Assist Senior Manager, Asia Pacific Insurance with the collection of data and preparation of excess liability premium allocation including managing monthly and quarterly maintenance.
? Interpret insurance clauses under Franchise and Management agreements and demonstrate ability to provide coherent explanation to Owners.
? Monitor insurance provided by Marriott’s international managed owners and international franchisees to ensure contractual compliance and notification of deficiencies as appropriate
? Review, analyze and maintain policies for company’s international casualty, China, and India insurance programs.
? Organize and develop insurance presentation and/or summaries for internal and external clients
? Manage and maintain policy data information for all international policy upload into department database.
? Support Senior Manager, Asia Pacific Insurance Regional Insurance with contractual review and risk analysis of vendors’/concessionaires’ exposures including medium and high hazard activities (Business Case Analysis)
? Support Senior Manager, Asia Pacific Insurance to optimize claims best practices in China and India.
? Assist Senior Manager, Asia Pacific Insurance to consult hotel and continent leadership on guest claim requests and claims trend analysis
? Develop International Liability Insurance Feasibility quotes.
? Obtain, analyze, and assimilate renewal data as necessary
? Special Projects as needed
Job Qualifications:
? Bachelor’s degree
? Fluent Mandarin speaking required
? Two to four years relevant corporate risk management, insurance underwriting or brokerage experience.
? Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Office 365, including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
? Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills
? Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
? Strong organizational skills
? Strong interpersonal skills to influence and communicate with other employees, as well as insurance and non-insurance professionals
