Define the job:

The Graphic Designer role is in charge of maintaining ELG’s visual identity consistently while creating or modifying marketing materials that are esthetically pleasing and professional.

Duties and responsibilities:

? Produce print and web collateral for internal and community events, especially posters, flyers, and digital banners.
? Design and update ELG informational materials such as business cards, directions cards, flyers, posters, and brochures.
? Create and update items for display in ELG offices and off-site offices (e.g. an ELG dedicated office at an international school) such as photographs of clients and staff, educational content, and bulletin boards.
? Design and update ELG-branded gifts and supplies, such as canvas bags, pens, notepads, greeting cards, etc.
? Ensure ELG website and social media visuals are consistent with visual identity.
? Be aware of confidentiality and appropriate use of images. Take precautions to ensure that only images are used of children where express permission has been granted. Respect dignity of anyone whose image is being used for marketing materials.
? Resize and retouch images for web and print content.
? Primary photographer and videographer for ELG staff profiles, capturing daily activities at ELG, etc.
? Represent ELG at internal and community events: take photos, run an information booth, etc.
? Contribute to marketing strategy and process discussions.
? Employee can be assigned to a different position as business need dictates.

Minimum Requirements:

? College Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or Visual Arts
? Proficient working on Apple computers.
? Intermediate computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
? Intermediate English is necessary. Simplified Chinese literacy is strongly desired. Mandarin and other language skills (especially French and German) are desired.
? First aid certificate preferred
Job specific skills:

Excellent proficiency in design software, particularly Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Excellent understanding of designing and saving files for print and web.

Basic DSLR photography and video editing skills are required. Video recording, including audio with microphone, skills are desired.

Experience designing for and understanding of digital media design best practices, especially WordPress, digital newsletters, Facebook, WeChat, and LinkedIn is preferred.

Advanced PowerPoint skills are desired (i.e. creation of templates and sophisticated presentations).

Awareness of the importance of protecting privacy and dignity of people whose images we use. Experience marketing similar sensitive populations (e.g. children or vulnerable people) is beneficial.

Experience working in an international environment is preferred. Candidate must be enthusiastic about a multicultural working environment, both at ELG and in the community.

Openness to children of all abilities and desire to help others.

Willingness to offer support within the department and whole company with tasks not necessarily outlined in the above job description.

Work location: Shanghai
Location can be either ELG’s Puxi or Pudong office.

ELG is a social enterprise that provides special education, behavioral, developmental, mental health services for both the local and international communities.

Speech-language pathologist Dr. Shari D. Rosen was the first American developmental therapist based in China. When she saw the lack of resources available in Shanghai for families of children with special needs, she, husband Monte Rosen, and friend Andrew Hill came together to form ELG. ELG was launched in 2006.

ELG offers speech-language therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, behavior therapy, and mental health counseling by appointment. Some examples include support with learning disabilities, sleep difficulties, handwriting, mental health challenges, coordination, social skills, and much more. People can call with any issue, even if they aren’t sure what specific type of therapy or assessment they need. ELG sees over 600 clients per year across China.

ELG also offers training to parents and professionals, as well as consultation for safeguarding and crisis management.
