China Tax Manager
Synopsis
Due to rapid business growth in China for more than 15 years, EF China is rolling out a Shared Services Center and need a China tax manager leading the tax function
The Role
Based in Shanghai, the role will involve tax compliance management and documentation, as well as research and assistance in addressing tax authority queries and audits
China Tax manager will play a significant role in managing and advising on all aspects of the company's tax position and act as a key point of contact on any tax inquiries
Responsibilities:
1. Reporting to the China Finance Director, you will take full responsibility for managing, developing, implementing and monitoring the tax provisions for the organization within the China region (20+ legal entities)
2. This is a hands-on role managing tax compliance issues, initiating tax planning to reduce effective & cash tax rate, monitoring potential tax risk as well as identifying and implementing tax efficient structures in China
3. Manage tax aspects of EF businesses in China to achieve tax compliance and savings
4. Lead defense of all tax audits in China
5. Be in charge of tax advisory on group restructure inside China and M&A activities if any
6. Be in charge of transfer pricing issues throughout China
7. Co-ordinate activities and work closely with external tax adviser, group tax expert and inter-company tax representatives on all cross-border transactions
8. Monitor changes in tax legislation and advise on how they affect EF operations Providing tax supports in cross-border investments, determining holding structures, funding proposals and dividend plans (together with Treasury) as necessary
9. Managing cross-border transactions and global inter-company charges & China cost allocation design & discussion with product with respect to transaction / contract arrangement, contract drafting & review, documentation preparation & collection, coordination with product, in-charge tax bureau & external agent for tax clearance
10. Annual review of CIT returns & high-level tax health check
Requirements:
1. 7-8 years of corporate tax experience at management level, ideally gained within both a Big 4/ local Accounting firm and in-house multinational organizations
2. Regional China tax planning experience is a must; experience in handling tax audits in China is a plus.
3. Candidates should be able to work independently and willing to travel among the company,s legal entities and offices across major cities in China
4. Exposure to tax compliance and tax advisory work within a service industry or shared service center is desired.
5. Practical experience at TP policy in dealing with non-trade business are special assets to this position.
6. Mature, High motivation, enthusiasm and outstanding communication and presentation skills in English and Mandarin
7. CTA and CICPA qualification will be plus
The ideal candidate should have relevant combined work experience in Big4 tax department and MNCs, shared service center or retail /chain industry. Candidate shall be hands-on and willing to devote to the job. Qualified candidates should be professional, sharpen, smart and well business acumen
