1. General

Area of responsibility : HW Test Engineer

Superior : HW Test Manager

Location : Wuxi

2. Main objectives

HW Test engineer shall, assigned by the HW Test Manager, deliver test documents into the projects (POI, NPI, PIP), according to agreed plans with responsible persons in the projects (R&D usually led by Validation responsible). Target is to utilize the HW test knowledge to deliver test documents in accordance to the appointed product, with the correct quality, in correct and planned time, meeting the different cost targets.

3. Areas of responsibility

• To test the HW of the product in terms of complete functionality, HW design robustness, input and output characteristics, HW integration.
• Set up test tool requirements and needs in a project.
• Ensure that a safe development process are applied and that the end-product is safe.
• In alignment with HW Test Manager agree with project responsible regarding project scope and requirements.
• Secure that the tests performed meets the agreed requirements.
• Escalate deviations to HW Test Manager and project responsible.
• Work according to agreed processes and tools, and support continuous improvement of them.
• Report working hours spent on different projects.

4. Personal tasks

• Set test plans for HW testing including EMC test plan
• Review system-, HW requirement specifications
• Create HW test specifications
• Create HW test reports
• Perform HW and HW integration tests.
• Participate in benchmarking activities.
• Create specification of test box

5. Main challenges

• To create test cases and tests that fully meets a complete requirement test coverage.
• To set a correct need of which test tools are needed within a project.
• To continuously gain knowledge within the areas of responsibilities; products, processes and tools, and too stay updated regarding best practices within appropriate technology fields.
• To support and encourage the compliance to company quality standards and other quality requirements.

6. Important external contacts

Customers:

• To support the Customer Focus Teams in their dialogue with customers.

Suppliers:

• To have a good relation with suppliers to be able to utilise their knowledge and achieve an efficient cooperation.

Institutions:

• When required contact with universities regarding research and development projects, thesis work and other collaborations.
• When required contact with research institutes and other associations within R&D.

7. Competence profile (ideal)

Education:

• MSc / BSc Engineering degree electrical engineering, or related fields of study in electronics
• >5 years’ experience of electronic/EMC test experience in automotive industry.
• Experience within HW testing, preferably within technology areas with similarities to the actual position.

• Good knowledge in test tools for bus communication such as CANoe or similar.
• Good knowledge in test tools for electrical loads and signal measurements.
• Fluent knowledge in English, spoken and written.
• General knowledge of development processes, methods, and tools.
• Team player with a strong drive and a positive attitude.
• Able to work in a structured way, both independently and in a team
• Committed, self starting, taking responsibility, high focus and interest to improve the day-to-day work.
• Solution and result driven approach.

8. Authority

• Within given mandates, using agreed processes, methods and tools, creating appropriate test documents.
