GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
The IT Engineer in ER is responsible for the implementation, maintenance and optimization of the Eastern Region's information systems including data processing, OA system, and telecommunications. He has responsibility for the IT service desk, ERP support and development to meet EHC internal and external users' long-term expectations.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
1.0 Operation management
a) Accomplishes and manages IT projects
b) Maintain the ITIL system to trace the projects and requests from users, and evaluate the IT stuff's work according the tasks assigned to him/her.
c) Responsible for obtaining the maximum return and competitive advantage from the Corporate investment in the system implemented
d) Responsible for search, test and implement the solution to optimize and upgrade the current system according to the actual demand
e) Trains all relevant Eastern Region employees.
f) Evaluates with Corporate IT Manager future software and hardware upgrades due to customisation, which meet the business need.
2.0 Business Information Systems
a) Comprehends and analyzes complex and varied information to identify irregularities and issues.
b) Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements.
c) Provides guidance wherever needed & performs repairs and configuration changes to computer hardware in special situations to maintain usability of existing software or to adapt for new software.
d) Provides guidance wherever needed with installation, configuration changes, and licensed software troubleshooting in special situations to maximize the efficiency and reliability of corporate information systems.
e) Troubleshoots and debugs operational failures in software applications developed internally. Works with IT team to develop short-term solutions where redesign is deemed necessary.
f) Contributes to improve and develop the ERP system and its business processes.
3.0 Network Engineering
a) Working with the Corporate IT Department, maintains the internetworking between the different facilities. Works under the guidance of Corporate IT Department to network ER offices.
b) Maintains Information Technology hardware such as file servers, email servers, firewalls, etc. in cooperation with the Corporate IT and external parties if need.
4.0 Software Management
a) Database administration: responsible for the general maintenance and integrity of our database(s).
b) Baan user administration: responsible for the set-up of new Baan users and managing the authorizations.
c) Provides ERP support and development services as needed.
5.0 Reports
a) Develop business reports according ER user's requirements.
b) IT Service report
c) IT system (server, printer, network and telephone system) report
6.0 Health & Safety
a) Maintains a safe and healthy working environment by adhering and enforcing current legal regulations and EHC Health & Safety policies and procedures.
7.0 Quality
a) Maintains quality service by enforcing and following organisational standards
8.0 Professional & Technology Knowledge
a) Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications
9.0 Team Effort
a) Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
b) Setup the IT related knowledge database to share the knowledge with all users.
10.0 IT Equipment Administration
a) Installs and configures software on user's computers.
b) Provides set up, installation, maintenance, repair, and upgrades of new computers, printers, photocopiers, fax machines, alarm system, telephones, conferencing equipment, and mobile phones.
c) Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and service/usage contracts of telephone lines, the telephone and voice mail system, mobile phones, and calling cards.
d) Responsible for investigating, pricing, providing recommendations, and purchasing of new equipment or services and necessary supplies.
e) Responsible for the data and voice wiring infrastructure outside of the server room
f) Responsible for the backup of all servers, network and voice message.
11.0 Help Desk
a) Provides help desk support for all user software (including ERP UI) and specializes in Windows and MS Office applications.
b) Provides help desk support for operation of all IT related equipment specified above..
c) Provides support for home software or equipment when requested to allow employees to perform additional work from home.
d) Provides introductory training for Windows applications, required IT related equipment used.
12.0 Network Administration
a) Maintains network user configuration and access privileges.
b) Maintains email configuration and user set up.
c) Maintains integrity of network by ensuring proper security to confidential information and protection from computer virus.
d) Provides home/remote connection support for home or travelling users.
13.0 Training
a) Provides specific training to employees as requested.
b) Recommends formal training for EHC employees as requested.
Key Attributes
? Completion of a computer science degree, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MSCE)
? Good knowledge of: ITIL (IT Service)
? Completion of a Business (BA) degree would be considered to be an asset.
? Demonstrated knowledge of: Internet Protocol (IP) internetworking; Windows clients and server technologies; Internet technologies; wide area network data communications including VPN technology.
? 5+ yrs. experience working with or supporting and managing Infor Baan ERP; experience in supervising a small team of professionals
? 5+ years experience in the IT field experience would include managing and/or supporting local and wide area networks, direct experience with Windows NT based networks; administrating or supporting MS Exchange Server.
