The Position
The Title: Application Specialist, Adhesives & Graphic Arts
Reporting line: Lab manager
Purpose of the position
To provide technical application support for film coating and flexible packaging ink market and identifies support complete the lab technical project independently, and increase the success opportunity of sales.
Communicate distributors and customers with lab test result and provide proper suggestion.
Support sales department to enable account manager to optimally serve the customer.

The Challenge
SHE Responsibilities
1. Act according to the DCR SHE policy and Application SHE rules
2. Ensure housekeeping standards are met
3. Ensure zero injury at lab

Technical application support for AGA AP
1. Evaluate existing product performance for various application (focus on film coating and
flexible packaging ink, improve the formulation, test result can support product promotion
and result in sales
2. Evaluate development/new grade performance, develop new test method and sales aid
3. Collect the market/ competitor information, identify market trend and look for new sales
opportunity
4. Conduct lab work of customer’s technical complaint and evaluate competitor’s sample
5. Meet specific customer or market needs identified by job holder which will result in increased
sales of existing products
6. Visit the customer if necessary

Technical sales support
1. Communicate with distributors/account managers to suggest proper products according to lab
work result and follow up the project

Lab maintenance
1. liaise for equipment calibration, maintenance and repairs, responsible for SOP and JSA of lab/equipment
2. Manage lab chemical
3. Ensure lab safety, smooth running of lab operation and in good working condition
4. Sample management including sample sending and sample customs clearance

Authorities
1. Prioritize the Application project portfolio to meet agreed deadlines
2. Claim and utilize resources from the non direct reports within the global lab
3. Team to meet the application project portfolio deadlines.
4. Decide on complaint handling
5. Visit customer if necessary

The Ideal
1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent Major in Chemical Engineering, Polymer science or chemistry
2. Know-how of printing inks, film coating and adhesives industry with minimum 3 year relevant lab experience, in-depth know-how about products and/or applications
3. Can conduct project independently and strong planning and organizational skills are necessary to manage multiple lab projects in a timely and effective manner
4. Can communicate with distributor and account manager to suggest proper products according to lab
5. Good written and spoken skill in English
6. Be familiar with PC
