DSM Coating Resins Shunde

It is is active in the market of Specialty Resins. The production technology is based on batch production and concerns 7 different types of chemistry. The product portfolio consists of approximately 150 different products.

The Position
The Title: Process Engineer , DRF
Reporting line: Improve Plant Manager

Purpose of the position
To optimize process , reducing operation cost
To be the process/engineering expert of site, support daily operation
To be the improvement initiatives owner from generation to closure

The Challenge
Project Management
1. Define, execute, evaluate and/or commission projects and modifications, in the role of process / control / safety engineer or project leader.
2. Check the conformity to design during the project construction.
3. Manage all stakeholders like the operators/shift leaders/supervisors/department managers in the responsible projects to get a win-win result, this including develop good cooperation during the idea generation, option selection until the training of new procedure/equipment brought by projects.
4. Follow defined project management procedures (e.g. Manufex procedures) and ensure work process steps are followed and completed in the right order.
Process Improvement and design
1. Provide process engineering consultation and support to operating results, including the issue definition, user requirement specification, feasible solution option, function description specification, conceptual/basic/detail engineering.
2. Collecting and listing all plant improvement initiatives. Checks the proposal on completeness and assesses the quality of the data.
3. Responsible for ranking and prioritizing all improvement initiatives based on by management approved criteria = gate-keeping 1.
4. Responsible for monitoring the improve plant work process by putting the initiatives during its lifecycle on the appropriate lists, and update them to IPMS system.
5. Responsible for sending approved initiatives to the appropriate work process for execution.
6. Analyze the performance of equipment and processes compared with targets and improvement plans
7. Propose improvements and modifications in order to improve plant (i.e. process efficiency, yield, utilities, quality consistency etc..).

Process SHE
1. Quality of the HAZOP and the HAZOP reporting
2. Quality of the re-design and allocation decision and reporting
3. A decision that fits with a cost-efficient approach without compromising on process safety
4. Execute defined SHE and Quality procedures in Engineering
5. Supervise staff to ensure that the safe and proper use of the work procedures and systems.
6. Follow DSM Values, “People, Planet, Profit”, HR policies and minimum requirements and guidelines
7. Budget expenditure within agreed limits
8. Understand and obey all the policies and rules about SHE& Security management in site strictly.
9. Take part in training about SHE & Security management in site actively, in order to improve one’s awareness about SHE & Security management.
10. Give improved advice to our superior about SHE & Security management actively.


The Ideal
1. Bachelor of Science level in Process Engineering (by education or experience) and knowledge of the staged project management process.
2. At least 8 years experience with relevant process engineering knowledge in an engineering or operational environment. Good communication (in English), team working and social skills.
3. English skills -- both oral and written.
4. Knowledge and experience about process design and safety management (preferred)
5. Understanding of software and ability to translate between user needs and system design.
6. General understanding and a broad knowledge of plant operations and plant process engineering requirements.
