Major Responsibilities:
1) Dotted line manage the project buyers in branches
2) Champion the NBO cost estimation process during quotation phase. Ensuring that business targets are met and all necessary quotations are processed, accurate costed BOM’s have been received and Business Case assumptions are accurate from the purchased material standpoint.
3) Interface with Program Management and Engineering representing purchasing at each cross functional meetings in case Purchasing Director cannot attend.
4) To establish, monitor and meet objectives in support of business strategies and contribute to the development and achievement of annual budgets.
5) To lead and organize multi-functional cost improvement teams to meet future goals.
6) To be accountable for the smooth and effective interaction between Purchasing and all other functions, in order to provide the optimum service for the business.
7) Aid in the strategic evaluation of potential suppliers.
8) Lead efforts to streamline / develop processes of purchasing department.
9) Bundling of change management programs together with Engineering / Sales.
10) Take the initiative and coordination for cost models for new products.
Key Competencies:
1) Awareness of the nature of business / corporate strategy and a much greater understanding of the appropriateness of different purchasing strategies.
2) A broad understanding of the product, market cost drivers for such a portfolio and the nature of supply market structures.
3) Ability to express a subject clearly and understandable and to persuade others. Correct exchange of information within or outside the company.
4) Fluency in the English Language.
5) Able to categorize work processes according to importance.
6) Ability to adjust or adapt to changed situations, problems and tasks quickly (comprehensive).
7) Team leadership skills.
8) Self-motivated for the speedy execution of given tasks.
9) Ability and versatility to fulfil different tasks according to manner and intensity.
Education and Experience:
1) Educational: Diploma / Degree level, preferably in an engineering / technology or commercial subject desirable.
2) Experience: At least 2 years of engineering and/or Project Management experience through the entire project life cycle. At least 6 years experience in the automotive industry.
3) Attributes: Open minded to find solutions for the task, Ability to communicate effectively in English.
