Merchandiser
Canadian Tire Corporation Ltd., Shanghai Representative Office



POSITION SUMMARY

Canadian Tire Corporation Ltd., is the largest retailer of hard lines in Canada with retail sales of over $10 Billion. The Shanghai Rep Office works directly with local manufacturers and vendors in support of our Canadian Retail Operations.

The Merchandiser will be responsible for managing a specific group of product categories. The focus will be on managing current business already being sourced from Asia as well as identifying sourcing opportunities within the entire South East Asian market.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

？ Identify new products & potential vendors & make recommendations to Category Business Managers and Import team.

？ Manage the day-to-day relationship with vendors.

？ Become a product and category specialist and knowledgeable on category strategies

？ Communicate with Suppliers to answer questions related to specific terms and programs.

？ Communicate, explain & implement various marketing programs with vendors.

？ Execute product development process, including working with vendors, Category Business Managers, Quality Management, Import Team, and Packaging.

？ Negotiate & problem solve with vendors and internal stakeholders

？ Provide Market Intelligence to key stakeholders within the organization.

？ Additional other activities as directed by the Merchandising Manager or Merchandise Director.



REQUIREMENTS

？ University Degree

？ At least 5 years experience in sourcing product for exporting business

？ Experience in home improvement categories would be preferred.

？ Ability to complete tasks in an efficient, effective manner while balancing the requests of several clients and/or stakeholders

？ Strong Action Orientation and Attention to Detail

？ Good team work spirit.

？ Strong Negotiation and Persuasion Skills

？ Good oral and written skills in both Mandarin and English.

？ Pleasant and professional verbal and email skills.

？ Strong computer skills – MS Word, Excel and Power point

？ Ability to contribute to process improvements related specifically to their job requirements.
