Characteristics

Key Focus: (Key elements that distinguish the role)

Act as a principal member of the senior management team responsible for the establishment and successful ongoing operation of Albemarle Lithium manufacturing plants located in Jiangxi and Sichuan.

Accountabilities: (Results achieved which earn reward)

Lead and facilitate the financial integration process for Jiangxi and Sichuan plants

Proper accounting and internal control procedures followed for all areas of responsibility

Provide leadership to local finance team, to develop and supervise the team through training, coaching, motivating and leading by example, and to ensure a rewarding and challenging working environment for the team members.

Reporting of financial operating results in an accurate and timely fashion

Reporting of annual budgets, forecasts and strategic financial plan

Ensure accurate and timely booking of all accounting entries in compliance with Chinese GAAP as well as US GAAP

Accurate and timely reporting of all financial information and reports required by the senior management and local government

Accurate and complete accounting of capital project expenditures

Reconciliation of all financial records with the General Ledger of Jiangxi and Sichuan plants

Maintain Corporate Finance policies and procedures manual

Interact with financial institutions and primary stakeholders


Responsibilities: (Activities done by this role)

Provide financial leadership to Jiangxi and Sichuan plants including controlling the project through product launch, the development and implementation of final control and reporting processes, and leading the financial assessment of future business opportunities for Jiangxi and Sichuan plants

Establish and continue to develop financial control systems, processes, and best business practices at Jiangxi and Sichuan plants including: maintain the books of account for reporting requirements in Chinese GAAP and US GAAP; and ensure that accounting practices meet all regulatory, legal, and tax requirements

Manage Accounting processes on a daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis to ensure books of accounts accurately represent the transactions and financial condition of Jiangxi and Sichuan plants as required

Prepare China GAAP and U.S. GAAP financial statements

Support interface with External Auditors during annual statutory certification process

Work closely with Corporate Finance, Tax and Operating Management to drive process improvements and efficiency actions, including maximization of systems solutions for accounting and tax

Support preparation of Company tax returns (national, regional, local)

Evaluate and recommend business solutions to the senior management team

Knowledge, Skill and Experience requirements

Technical Skills: (Primary skills necessary to perform key aspects of the position)

Professional Certification: CPA is required

Familiar with local regulations such as taxation regulation, SAFE regulation and China Statutory requirement

Experience with China GAAP and US GAAP requirements

 Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree majored in Business, Accounting or Finance

Other Qualifications Required:

This position requires outstanding financial, business, and leadership skills - including demonstrated experience in accounting, post-integration, and challenging business environments.

10+ years related working experience with min. 4-5 years manager/supervisor experience in Finance and Accounting with a multinational company in manufacturing environment.

Proven high levels of streetwise business acumen, maturity, and flexibility

Operational experience providing financial leadership to a medium size business - ideally a joint venture with the involvement of a major multi-national corporation

Business startup situation experience - including the setup of an effective finance organization

Ability to run an independent company

Strong leadership and management skills

Willing to teach and share experience & learning with others - - A team player

Personality, which enjoys and can handle working in a stressful and rapidly changing

Willing to drive into details

Fluent in written and spoken English and Mandarin

Familiar with MS Office, Lotus Notes Mail and SAP or other integrated business systems

Flexibility for travel
 
Desirable Qualifications (not required):

Master’s or MBA or nearing completion is a plus

MNC experience in industry or with a multinational CPA firm

Knowledge of Information Technology

Knowledge of Human Resources
