GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Designer is a member of the creative team that supports window and in-store needs, including digital and advertising. He/She is responsible for producing designs for a variety of in-store and window components (e.g. signage, imagery, propping) as well as marketing related collateral that supports seasonal objectives, overall brand positioning and store/digital experience. The respective work would need to meet brand objectives/strategies of the Brand.
He/She will partner with the Brand Marketing team, Production, Visual Merchandising, and Store Operations teams, and other internal teams as appropriate. Given the start-up nature of this project, there will be a high degree of process development and forging of new ground.
VOLUME & COMPLEXITY OF BUSINESS: International start-up requiring juggling of many and varied tasks on tight timelines, leveraging, and sometimes negotiating-for, resources of well-established domestic organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Develop creative for digital and relevant social media activities, including visual, audio and video
? Develop creative for windows and in-store environment in a variety of formats depending on the brand’s objectives and seasonal themes. Responsible for graphic design and layouts for windows, in-store signage (promotional and franchise), and overhead/store graphics/imagery
? Design marketing communication material including in-store signage, window posters and decals, and in-store collateral
? Leverage creative materials from the Global Center and localize for the stores in Greater China.
? Develop and design propping
? Work with cross-functional team to bring ideas to life in a clear concise way
? Define and maintain a retail experience that is well designed, simple, bold, modern, and most importantly, authentic to Gap
? Own projects from start to finish: from concepting to presentation, through layout and production hand off
? Explore formats, color, typographic solutions and materials
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
? Background in graphic/digital design
? Expert knowledge of design related software is required (Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Fireworks and After Effect)
? 5 years of relevant graphic/digital, or equivalent advertising work experience.
? Strong creative vision and accomplished portfolio of prior creative work
? Excellent communication skills to clearly communicate ideas to a team and integrate feedback and direction
? Able to interpret and apply creative direction. Proven project management and motivation skills
? Sophisticated sense of typography and an understanding of its relevance to a good design
? Results oriented: able to think both strategically and provide creative solutions
? Ability to deliver work in a timely and brand appropriate way
? Broad knowledge of competitive retailers/designers
? Exceptional eye for detail
? Brand: An understanding of the Gap brand (including aesthetic and taste level).
? Excellent collaboration, influencing and leadership skills
? Highly flexible and adapts well to a rapidly changing, high sense of urgency environment
? Ability to manage and direct multiple projects at once
? Ability to work independently, prioritize projects and meet deadlines
? Practical knowledge of what it takes to get designs approved and produced
? Relationships: Proven experience and ability to work cross-functionally
? Should be aware of trends and new ideas, and able to incorporate them into fantastic creative
? Ability to create and innovate – finding new ways to bring the brand promise to life
? Good capability in graphic design, animation design and interface design is a plus
? Experience with photography and photoshoots is a plus
? Agency background is a plus
? Cultural: An ability to interact with people in different cultures in a way that promotes understanding, and is respectful and effective.
? Excellent verbal communication skills in Mandarin and English
? Excellent written communication skills in simplified Chinese, English and traditional Chinese
? Passion: For Retail!
Minimum Education Level
? University degree or equivalent experience
