The LEGO Group is a privately held company based in Billund, Denmark. The company is still owned by the Kirk Kristiansen family who founded it in 1932. The LEGO Group is engaged in the development of children's creativity through playing and learning. Based on the world-famous LEGO® brick, the company today provides toys, experiences and teaching materials for children in more than 130 countries. The LEGO Group has approximately 10,000 employees, and it is the world's third largest manufacturer of play materials.

The LEGO Brand has a long history in China going back to 1983, but not until 2006 was a roadmap for development set in place. Based on this the LEGO Group established its first physical presence in China in 2007, established the first legal entity in 2010 and is now in the process of setting up a subsidiary. LEGO China has since mid-2010 grown from 5 to 30 people, and sales have grown by 60%. This makes the LEGO Brand the 2nd largest in China already. China is the number 1 priority in Asia for LEGO Group and is backed by an aggressive expansion strategy of China businesses and organizations.
