RESPONSIBILITIES
Establishes and recommends improvements to production processes, product design, materials, quality, and component producibility; reduces cost and lead times by investigating alternate tooling processes and equipment. Manages maintenance and other processes to improve yields and up-time of equipment. Develops processes to reduce setup time and manages mold inventory.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
? Production Support
o Ensure successfully introduction of new molded products and associated tooling into manufacturing, including creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
o Improve machine up-time, optimize yield and minimize scrap
o Dispositions parts and assemblies rejected by production. Investigates part application and directs necessary action and initiates changes to production drawings and procedures.
o Recommends solutions to mold and die problems to improve yields
o Under the direction of the Operations Director, develops and implements procedures for scheduled maintenance of equipment (TPM), coordinating with production and planning personnel
? Process improvement
o Analyzes and improves manufacturing techniques and processes by investigating existing procedures, materials, tooling, costs, and alternate methods; implements necessary changes by cooperating with operations director and other staff to improve component cost and quality
o Cooperate with Planning, Quality and New Product development to utilize Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing tools, as applicable, to reduce process variation, improve yields, eliminate non-value added activities and defects and improve customer satisfaction.
o May use “Design of Experiments” or other techniques to determine better methods and yield improvement
o Participate in development of more productive procedures, documents SOP’s and assists in training supervisors and employees
? New equipment
o Participates in the selection, specification, installation and commissioning of new equipment
o Prepares installation plans, including layout of equipment and related ancillaries and utilities
? EHS
o Analyzes safety issues related to current and new equipment and develops safe SOP’s for operation
o Regularly inspects plant for safety hazards and recommend solutions
? Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Ideal candidate is a skilled manufacturing engineer with experience in multiple plastics forming technologies: injection molding, thermoforming, vacuum molding and extrusion, with strong skills in productivity improvement and cost reduction, ideally in industries serving food service end-users. Primary skill sets should include lean manufacturing, process and yield improvement and problem resolution.

Knowledge

1. B.S. Degree in Mechanical, Plastics or Manufacturing Engineering
2. Fully bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese, plus Cantonese
3. Knowledge of food related quality systems and sanitation


Skills

1. Minimum of 4-5 years experience in a multi-process plastics environment
2. Understanding of all mechanical, electrical and electronic and electromechanical aspects of related equipment and ability to train and direct subordinates, along with pneumatic and hydraulic systems, pumps and compressors, vacuum and other systems as well as machine shop equipment
3. Experience creating SOPs, SWI’s, BOM’s
4. “Lean Manufacturing” experience
5. Experience with preventive maintenance programs
6. Experienced in process improvement, with skills in lean manufacturing principles and process optimization
7. Strong Project Management skills and ability to work independently managing multiple projects.
8. Six Sigma a plus but not required
9. Must be able to create, track, manage and implement capital projects on time

1. High level of PC expertise – Excel/Word/PowerPoint plus CAD, Pro-E systems
2. Excellent planning & organizing skills.
