Our client is an established group sourcing office of a successful UK based catalogue business as well as supplying additional third party customers. Due to their expansion, they now seek an experienced General Manager to head up their new Shanghai office opening in October. The ideal candidate will be experienced in managing both Hard goods & Clothing categories.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

- To lead a newly created team to deliver company KPIs including on-time shipments, supplier management, delivering sourcing strategy in line with business requirements
- To manage the daily operations of the Shanghai sourcing office
- To manage merchandising, sourcing and technical teams
- To ensure all company procedures, process and policy are adhered to at all times
- To deliver sourcing strategy and suggest measures to improve development leadtimes / production leadtimes
- To represent the company to build partnerships with factories, ensuring right price, right product, on time.
- To ensure all factories meet both Technical and Ethical standard as expected by the business
- Deliver products at cost, propose corrective measures in order to achieve targets set by Head Office and finally negotiate prices with factory management
- Prepare and manage China Office Annual Budget including development spend per year
- Ensure weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports and projection are complete
- This role reports directly to the Sourcing Director base in Hong Kong

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

- Min. 8 years Sourcing, Merchandising & Production experience, with the last few years at managerial level
- Strong factory relationship, ideally in Clothing, Sundries, Stationery, Household
- In depth understanding of manufacturing, processes and factory costs in China
- Experience in both softlines & hardlines are essential
- Fluent Mandarin and English is essential
- Ability to multi-task and deliver under pressure is a must
- Independent and creative thinker, with well-developed organizational skills and the ability to create processes and procedures
- Great interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills
- This role would be suitable for a divisional manager within a larger Sourcing / Buying office looking to head up their own office
