Our client is a leading Global Retailer of babies, toddler & kids apparel, furniture and babycare items. They now seek a Product Technologist to be based at their Shanghai office overseeing wooden furniture and plastic injection moulded items, such as feeding bottles / sterilisers. This role will focus on the Technical aspects of the product, and ensure product safety and testing standards are maintained. This role ensures that products comply with company and international requirements and that supplier’s factories meet company technical and quality requirements. The role also provides technical advice to external suppliers and product development colleagues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Ensure all quality problems/ issues of new products are identified and rectified before red seal and gold seal samples are confirmed
? Ensure products are inspected in accordance with relevant company standard, international quality standard and legal requirements of the consumer markets
? Ensure the sample testing work is arranged by suppliers and results are delivered within the timescale and/or the pre¬determined critical path/ product development schedule
? Ensure suppliers understand company and international standard before production
? Review and audit suppliers’ quality system and process to ensure that they met the company’s standard Perform regular factory audits and recommend effective corrective action to suppliers
? Review and analyse the failure of product testing results with suppliers and provide professional advice as required
? Monitor supplier’s performance and report to Technical Manager any improvements required for suppliers with an unaccepted rate of goods return
? Liaise with 3rd parties inspection company to ensure inspection schedules are met and inspection reports are delivered before shipment
? Support the implementation of the company
? Responsible Sourcing code of conduct in the supply base
? Adhere to agreed reporting requirements to ensure all technical and quality requirements are tracked and analysed
? Key in data to produce reports on technical and quality related KPIS
? Review reports for trends and identify actions for discussion with Technical Manager
? This role directly reports to Technical Manager
? Agree personal performance targets with Technical Manager
? Identify personal development needs

? Manufacturing and Operations experience
? Data analysis and reporting
? Coaching and knowledge transfer capabilities
? Regular travel within region is required
? Previously experience within an international buying office
