Job Description
Responsibilities:

? Preparing journal entries, recurring and allocation journal entries, collecting adequate supporting documentation
? Building credibility and establishing a good working relationship with respective colleagues within the country(ies) will be a priority.
? Corporate and accounting policies are adhered to and regular interaction with internal contacts while prioritizing workload to enable turnaround times to be met, especially at month end.
? Compare new and updated policy with current procedures to ensure the procedures continue to support new policies.
? Propose amendments to accounting procedures where necessary as a result of changes to policy.
? Update exchange rates.
? Confirm all standard/routine journals, interfaces and adjustments processed prior to performing preliminary GL close
? Receive and reconcile intercompany payments and statements and escalate queries and resolve outstanding issues,
? Review and maintain recurring and allocation entries on a monthly and annual basis.
? Ensure accounting matters adhere to deadlines and statutory requirements.
? Additional tasks will include statutory reporting (audit etc.) and getting involved in various projects aimed at improving processes etc.
? The role will include problem solving and the ability to resolve ad-hoc problems as needs dictate.
? The candidate will need to be flexible and able to work off their own initiative. Team work and team spirit will be key factors in this role responsible for providing accurate and timely information to other lines of business within UTi and to Corporate Headquarters in the US.
? This role will include preparing and planning and transitioning of local Finance activities to a Shared Services Centre so project management skills are essential.
? Review on a monthly basis standard SSC reports and metrics and provide commentary on variances to function management


Requirements:

? Candidate possess at least a Bachelor's/College Degree , Post Graduate Diploma / Master's Degree or Professional License (Passed Board/Bar/Professional License Exam) in Finance/Accountancy/Banking or equivalent.
? At least 1 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
? Preferably 1-4 Yrs Experienced Employees specializing in Finance - General/Cost Accounting or equivalent. Job role in Basic Accounting/Bookkeeping/Accounts Executive or Financial Accounting & Reporting.
