QUALIFICATIONS
MININUM REQUIREMENTS
? Engineering degree or equivalent; working towards MBA & P.Eng
? Management certificate from PMI or other certificate
? Five years of work experience required in Design, Development & Product Engineering
? Two years supervisory experience
? Excellent leadership & problem-solving skills; proven project management skills
? Excellent documentation & organizational skills; strong technical presentation skills
? Computer literate: AutoCAD & SDRC/Pro Engineer, Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes
? Excellent English language communication skills (both verbal & written)
? Excellent knowledge of TS16949 & ISO14001 systems
? Strong understanding of machine tool & stamping manufacturing experience
? WHMIS
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITITES
1. TECHNICAL
? Authorize drawings and design; Document control of Engineering Standards, Drawings, Math Data, Test Procedures, Material & Engineering Specifications
? Participate in selection of capital equipment and tooling sources
? Program Timing & Customer Liaison
? Organize through Dept. phase sign-off reviews
? Lead and supervise APQP activities
? Monitor cost of prototyping and production parts; ensuring budgets are met
? Assign responsibility within the Product Engineering department
? Initiates the investigation of product related problems and issues identified by customers and internal departments
2. SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL
? Observes all legislative requirements including but not limited to Section 27 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Ensures workers work in the manner and with the protective devices, measures & procedures required by the Act and the regulations
- Ensures workers use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that MPT MFS requires to be used or worn
- Advises workers of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health or safety of the worker of which you are aware of
- Where so prescribed, provides workers with written instructions as to the measures & procedures to be taken for protection of workers
- Takes every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of workers.
? Observes and enforces ISO 14001 and Health & Safety policies
? Corrects unsafe acts and conditions on a timely basis
? Corrects and commends environmental, health and safety performance of employees on a routine basis and in Performance Appraisals
? Trains new employees and retrains employees as required
? Assist in conducting risk assessments on new and/or modified equipment and/or processes as required
? Participates in accident/incident investigation process
? Conducts safety talks with employees; participates in monthly JEHSC meetings
? Ensures proper orientation is conducted for permanent and temporary workers
? Assist in creating modified jobs when required (Physical Demands Analysis)
? Ensures the department is kept clean, orderly & safe at all times
3. MANAGERIAL
? Manages the activities of employees in the department & distributes their work as necessary
? Resolves work problems and recommends work measures to improve productivity
? Controls working hours of employees within department through IDT system; ensures attendance is monitored & approves vacation, floaters, birthdays, etc. through Lotus Notes system
? Reviews work performance of employees within department and makes recommendations regarding future work assignments and merit increases
? Performs interviews & orientations as required
? Ensures employees within department receive the proper training to complete their job expectations; update technical training checklists in a timely manner (if applicable)
? Ensures all workers are trained on & abide by related TS16949 & ISO 14001 work instructions at all times
? Conduct regular departmental team meetings
? Encourage good housekeeping at all times and complete '5S' checklist on a monthly basis
? Responsible for departmental financial budgets
4. GENERAL
? Comply with legislative requirements including but not limited to Section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Use or wear equipment, protective devices or clothing that MPT MFS requires to be used or worn
- Report hazards to your supervisor/manager that you are aware of
- Will not operate any thing or work in a manner that may cause danger
? Ensure TS16949 & ISO 14001 compliance
? Awareness of all relevant Customer Requirements pertaining to your job function
? Treat your fellow workers as you would like to be treated
? Follow guidelines, systems & rules as set out by your employee handbook & company policies
? Keep your workplace clean & tidy at all times
? Any other duties that may be assigned
