QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
? Recognized technical trade certificate Millwright/Electrician from either a technical college and apprenticeship
? Minimum of 5 years experience as Maintenance Supervisor or Manager in an automotive manufacturing environment
? Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, PLC's , Controls, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
? Familiar with applicable codes relating to maintenance such as Ontario Hydro Code, CSA, OHSA, Spill Response
? Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills
? Excellent documentation and organizational skills
? Computer literate: MP2, Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes
? Excellent English language communication skills (both verbal and written)
? Excellent knowledge of TS16949 and ISO14001 systems
? Confined Space, Lock-out/Tag-out, Spill Response, WHMIS training


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. TECHNICAL
? Effective management, through enforcement (constructive correction) and reinforcement (commendation) techniques, of health and environmental programs to ensure compliance with performance standards and legislative requirements.
? Ensure that an effective preventive and predictive maintenance system is in place and is clearly understood by the members of the Maintenance team.
? Ensure that MPT MFS retains and develops qualified mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electronic staff, to conduct all preventive, predictive and emergency maintenance activities.
? Coach, train, develop and inspire maintenance staff.
? Maintain documentation on all equipment, building infrastructure, etc. such as machine manuals, electric circuit diagrams, hydraulic-pneumatic circuit diagrams, assembly drawings, spare part lists, preventative / predictive and emergency breakdown work orders / instructions.
? Ensure that the Tool room equipment and the required tools are kept in good working condition and are readily available.
? Maintain and develop work instructions regarding the maintenance area as per TS16949 requirements and train staff accordingly.
? Provide equipment downtime and equipment related cost reports in order to focus on cost reduction.
? Active member in cross-functional continuous improvement project teams.
? Maintain spare parts inventory and reorder material as necessary. Select reliable and quality suppliers for spare parts. Select reliable and quality contractors for building modifications, major machine repair work, etc.
? Work out RFQ's relating to building modifications and outside equipment repair requirements.
? Schedule all necessary work activities under consideration of production requirement and maintenance staff skills.
? Develop strategic short and long term maintenance plans.
? Provide support during off hours by cell phone.



2. SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL
? Ensure that building, building infrastructure, building services, production and production support equipment are in safe working condition, while meeting all applicable legislative requirements
? Observes all legislative requirements including but not limited to Section 27 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Ensures workers work in the manner and with the protective devices, measures and procedures required by the Act and the regulations
- Ensures workers use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that MPT MFS requires to be used or worn
- Advises workers of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health or safety of the worker of which you are aware of
- Where so prescribed, provides workers with written instructions as to the measures and procedures to be taken for protection of workers
- Takes every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of workers.
? Observes and enforces ISO 14001 and Health & Safety policies
? Corrects unsafe acts and conditions on a timely basis
? Corrects and commends environmental, health and safety performance of employees on a routine basis and in Performance Appraisals
? Trains new employees and retrains employees as required
? Assist in conducting risk assessments on new and/or modified equipment and/or processes as required
? Participates in accident/incident investigation process
? Conducts safety talks with employees; participates in monthly JEHSC meetings
? Ensures proper orientation is conducted for permanent and temporary workers
? Assist in creating modified jobs when required (Physical Demands Analysis)
? Ensures the department is kept clean, orderly and safe at all times

3. MANAGERIAL
? Manages the activities of employees in the department and distributes their work as necessary
? Resolves work problems and recommends work measures to improve productivity
? Controls working hours of employees within department through IDT system; ensures attendance is monitored and approves vacation, floaters, birthdays, etc. through Lotus Notes system
? Reviews work performance of employees within department and makes recommendations regarding future work assignments and merit increases
? Performs interviews and orientations as required
? Ensures workers are commencing their shifts on a timely manner and after breaks
? Ensures employees within department receive the proper training to complete their job expectations; update technical training checklists in a timely manner (if applicable)
? Ensures all workers are trained on and abide by related TS16949 and ISO 14001 work instructions at all times
? Conduct regular departmental team meetings
? Encourage good housekeeping at all times and complete '5S' checklist on a monthly basis
? Responsible for departmental financial budgets
? Implement Team Cross Functional training.

4. GENERAL
? Comply with legislative requirements including but not limited to Section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Use or wear equipment, protective devices or clothing that MPT MFS requires to be used or worn
- Report hazards to your supervisor/manager that you are aware of
- Will not operate any thing or work in a manner that may cause danger
? Ensure TS16949 and ISO 14001 compliance
? Awareness of all relevant customer requirements pertaining to your job function
? Treat your fellow workers as you would like to be treated
? Follow guidelines, systems and rules as set out by Your Employee Handbook and Company policies
? Keep your workplace clean and tidy at all times
? Any other duties that may be assigned
? Main contact for emergencies related to equipment and facilities

WORKING CONDITIONS

? Some coordination required
? Plant environment
? Work irregular hours when required
? Must be available in off hours in case of emergencies, critical equipment breakdowns or weekend / holiday supervision
