Title: Clinical Coding Specialist
Facility: Beijing United Family Hospital
Department: Coding and Revenue Integrity
Supervision Received: Reports directly to the Coding and Revenue Integrity Manager
Qualifications:
? Nursing background, college degree is a minimum
? Overseas working experience is preferred
? Working experience with coding and/or reimbursement activities preferred
? Knowledge of commercial insurance industry procedures
*Additional education/experience may be substituted for experience/education
Skills:
? Working knowledge of the English language
? Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work long hours if needed
? Must also possess excellent analytical & problem solving abilities as well as, a high level
of accuracy and attention to detail
? Requires ability to work well under pressure and the ability to work on multiple tasks
simultaneously
? Requires good time management, organizational and prioritization skills
? PC skills
Knowledge:
? Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology preferred
? Strong knowledge of the coding system preferred
*For the right candidate without the above knowledge, training will be provided
Responsibilities:
? Check all coding done by physicians to ensure proper coding
? Codes services of questionable/new items and reviews proper coding with coding manager
? Review medical records and assign ICD-9-CM and CPT codes, based on episode of care
and physician documentation, performs data abstracting and statistical reporting
? Collaborates with physicians, clinical department providers and administrative staff to
provide technical assistance for coding questions and to achieve accurate billing and
reimbursement levels.
