Design Engineer - Qingdao

Jord International is an international engineering company specializing in the design, manufacture and supply of process equipment into oil, gas, petrochemical, power generation, mining and general process industries. The company has regionally based equipment manufacturing facilities including Australia, Malaysia, Korea, China, Middle East and India.

As a result of rapid and strong growth, we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to work in our Qindao office. The Design Engineer is responsible for executing the complete design within the engineering budget set, within the program schedule and will be the single point contact for the coordination of the designated job. The Design Engineer will have a strong grip on the relevant codes and technical specifications and know all aspects of the Jord product well. All engineering work shall be carried out in compliance with the Jord ISO system.
Responsibilities:
? Manages designated engineering jobs with reference to PO requirements and be responsible for all technical issues
? Reports on project progress, budget to completion, event notes, ECN and progress reports
? Attends KOMs and highlights any missing information or ambiguous issues to execute the project
? Creates engineering estimates, develops deliverable dates and status, prepares design plan, estimation sheets, BOMs, MTO, technical reports, TPS, O&M & close out reports, and reviews engineering drawings and documents
? Ensures all necessary inputs are readily available to team to work with minimum delay and without the needs for rework
? Allocates work to the team and supports them in their duties with routine and technical information
? Performs mechanical design and analytical calculation using governing codes and standards
? Reviews all engineering documentation and designs prior to release to ensure compliance and strives for zero errors
? Involved in checking as and when required or nominated by the Product Design Manager
? Ensures check sheet system is followed and continuously updated for crisp design output
? Strives for improvement in reducing cost and lead time of the design and manufacturing process
? Able to understand and prioritise the release of drawings for manufacturing and customer approvals
? Ensures any variations to the scope, design or drawings are captured in ECN’s and noted in the engineering diary
? Assists Product Design Manager in formulating a cost analysis with justification in large variations
? Assist Procurement and Sourcing to review and approve supplier offers, ensuring they meet the Project Requirements
? Assist the Product Design Manager review potential new suppliers and / or technologies
? Coordinates outside design activities to ensure they are synchronised with in-house design activities
? Ensures designs used in the designated jobs are validated
? Creates and maintains company and reference standards for engineering designs
? Researches and creates new or first time drawing and documents required by client
? Ensures that all email correspondence, drawing and documents relevant to projects are saved in the job repository
? Prepares engineering close out reports and arranges to complete as built drawing after the job is completed
? Performs special tasks as assigned and reports any critical risks to Product Design Manager.
? Perform any other task assigned to you




To be considered for this position you will need to demonstrate:
? Tertiary qualifications in Mech/Elec with minimum 5 years’ experience
? Knowledge of (ASME, AutoCAD & Solidworks)
? Knowledge of PLC programming Language and experience in commissioning for Elec Engineer
? Eagerness to knows all aspects of the Jord product well and shall be a self-starter with minimum supervision required
? Work cross functionally with team members at all levels across multiple departments
? Excellent attention to detail and willing to give input via sketches and take pride and accountability in their work
? Facilitates team work and possesses a positive attitude
? Be motivated and passionate to develop Engineering initiatives that reduce cost, improved efficiency and maintains the quality and reliability of the Jord product.
? Able to handle workload effectively and willing to take on more
? Identifies problems independently and resolves to prevent re-occurrence
? Works quickly and improves the company’s current tools and systems
