Job Summary:

This position will manage all operational functions of a large-scale, modern irrigated farm for Lamb Weston in China. The role requires strong leadership skills, a profound desire to learn and be creative, keen attention to detail, and an ability to effectively communicate in Chinese and English. The candidate will use these skills in the office and the field to: 1) ensure safe operations via a formal Safety Program, 2) define and execute a crop plan through Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and frequent reporting, and 3) improve existing cropping systems with innovative technique and new technology. The job scope includes overseeing all aspects of potato production and rotation cropping (from land management to storage management), but will focus on hands-on, daily training and oversight of a team of crop managers/agronomists. The position will be based in the local farming region.

Position Responsibilities:

· Oversee all aspects of corporate farm management including: budgeting, land selection, equipment purchasing and R&M programs, seed planning and sourcing, fertilizer and pesticide purchasing, etc.

· Create, improve and innovate formal management programs including: a Safety Program, written cropping plans, SOPs, and reporting procedures.

· Provide daily guidance and training from the farm office (60% of the time) and the field (40% of the time) to a team of crop managers/agronomists.

· Engage this team to quantitatively evaluate the farming process in order to continually improve timing and technique and to accurately report crop progress.

· Provide weekly updates of Key Crop Performance Indicators (KPIs) to an international upper-management team.

· Manage P&L for all corporate farming activities and provide monthly financial updates & forecasting.

· Provide direction and support for building new farms and potato storage facilities.

· Be responsible for other similar tasks as this position matures.

Qualifications:

· 4 year university degree in an agriculture related field (e.g. Ag. Science, Ag. Business, Life Science, etc.) is required (significant job experience in the Agriculture Industry may substitute for an Ag.-related degree)

· 6+ years of work experience in a large, modern farming operation is required.

· 4+ years of supervisory or managerial experience is required.

· Functional verbal and written English language skills are required.

· Strong math and computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word are required.

· Driver’s license or willingness to acquire one is required. Safe driving skills are a must.

· Be available to work and live in remote rural areas for the duration of the entire season.

· Work between various farming sites and be willing to travel on a limited basis throughout China and internationally.

· Be prepared for a work schedule that follows the cycle of agriculture (times of very intense activity followed by down time).
