Educational Qualifications

? Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering with 5 Plus years relevant experience.
? Masters Degree preferred and a plus.
? Registered (or eligible for registration) as a Professional Engineer a Plus.
? 5years oilfield industry experience in a manufacturing environment in a design capacity
? Good knowledge of industry standards and codes such as ABS, API, AISC, AWS D1.1 etc
? Excellent computer skills, particularly related to CAD, SolidWorks and engineering software.
? Working knowledge of oilfield and drilling equipment would be an asset
? Knowledge of ABS Guide for Certification of Lifting Appliances and related ABS/API 2C Specs would be an asset
? Knowledge of CCS Rules for Lifting Appliances would be an asset
? Good understanding of the manufacturing, fabrication, and installation / assembly process

Principal Tasks

? Coordinate design of Structural Components for Lifting Equipment as required by contract
? Develop Quality Cost Effective designs
? Approve and be professionally responsible for System Design, Fabrication drawings, Calculations, Material Selection and technical documents.
? Define project scope and customer requirements for the core Crane Structural components
? Generate project plans, test plans and risk-assessments for the core products under the direction of the Head of Group.
? Prepare specifications for Critical Structural Material including Minimum Charpy Requirements.
? Responsible for maintenance of Structural Engineering files, drawings, and procedures.
? Work closely with team and project engineers & installers to ensure compliance with appropriate codes and industry standards.
? Work closely with other departments to improve procedures and processes within TSC’s manufacturing group
? Initiate product improvements plans in coordination with the Business Unit Team
? Mentor less experience personnel

Specific Expertise

? Excellent knowledge of Structural Design of Heavy Equipment
? Experience designing equipment for hazardous drilling environments would be an asset
? Interface with Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic for System Controls
? Excellent drafting skills with AutoCAD and SolidWorks
? Technical expertise in three or more of the following areas:
o FEA Analysis
o AISC Design of Steel Construction
o Design of Weldments per AWS D1.1
o Structural Design of Offshore Cranes per API 2C, 7th edition
o Strength of Materials for Offshore Environment
o Ship Design RAO’s (Degrees of Freedom-Movement)
o Strain Gage Testing
o Cv requirements for Onboard and Offboard Lifting
