Educational Qualifications

? Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 5 Plus years relevant experience.
? Registered (or eligible for registration) as a Professional Engineer.
? 3-5years oilfield industry experience in a manufacturing environment in a design capacity
? Good knowledge of industry standards and codes such as IEC, ATEX, NEC, API, ANSI, etc
? Excellent computer skills, particularly related to CAD and engineering software.
? Working knowledge of oilfield and drilling equipment would be an asset
? Knowledge of ABS Guide for Certification of Lifting Appliances and related ABS/API Specs would be an asset
? Knowledge of CCS Rules for Lifting Appliances would be an asset
? Good understanding of the manufacturing, fabrication, and installation / assembly process

Principal Tasks

? Coordinate and execute schematic drawings
? Approve and be professionally responsible for Assembly drawings, One-Line Diagrams, Schematics, PLC/VFD software and technical documents.
? Define project scope and customer requirements for the core crane electrical component scope
? Generate project plans, test plans and risk-assessments for the core products under the direction of the Head of Group.
? Prepare specifications for parts and electrical components.
? Responsible for maintenance of electrical engineering files, drawings, schematics and procedures.
? Work closely with team and project engineers & installers to ensure compliance with appropriate codes and industry standards.
? Work closely with other departments to improve procedures and processes within TSC’s manufacturing group
? Initiate product improvements plans in coordination with the Business Unit Team
? Mentor less experience personnel

Specific Expertise

? Excellent knowledge of the electrical code, IEC,ATEX, NEC for various countries including the USA.
? Experience with Offshore Electrical Cables, Glands, Connectors, Wiring Standards (Metric and English)
? Experience with Rig Power Supplies of 660V/3Ph/60 Hz, 480V/3 Ph/60Hz, 240 VAC, 120VAC, 24 VDC
? Experience designing equipment for hazardous drilling environments would be an asset
? Working knowledge of PLC programming.
? Excellent drafting skills with AutoCAD and/or Microstation.
? Technical expertise in three or more of the following areas:
o Programmable Logic Controllers and MMI/HMI Graphic Systems
o Design and implementation of SCADA software and Graphical User Interface (GUI)
o Experienced with motor controls and Low Voltage Variable Frequency Drives
o Induction and Permanent Magnet Motor technology, flux orientation and optimization would be an asset
o Distributed Control Systems
o Motion Control
o Experienced with flow measurement and control of hydraulic systems, directional control valves, flow control valves, and hydraulic pumps.
o Top Drive, Drawworks, Mud Pumps, Shakers, MCC Applications experience would be an asset.
