Position: Machine Shop Cell Leader

Reporting to: Production manager

Detailed understanding:

• Knowledge of sophisticated automating machining processes and measurement – CNC Machining – CMM Measurement.
• Thorough understanding of all operational areas, e.g. manufacturing planning systems, manufacturing engineering, supply chain logistics, quality systems, product support and development activities.
• Clear understanding of modern manufacturing techniques and manufacturing best practice: 5S’s, Lean Manufacturing, Material Requirements Planning (MRP), computerized applications.
• Understanding of the products produced, i.e. production process, technical design and performance characteristics.
• Machining and process capability knowledge.

Experience:

• Bachelor degree majored in Automation, Machinery, Electrical Engineering etc.
• At least 8 years of experience in CNC Machining, especially in HMC.
• At least 3 years supervisory experience in a production environment.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Experience of managing and motivating teams is essential, as is experience of leading quality and other improvement projects through multi-disciplined teams
• Experience in Makino & Mori Seiki machining, Familiar with Fanuc Control is preferred.
• Experience in 5S, TPM, LEAN activities.

Responsibilities:

• Management, development and cell leadership of a machining area to ensure the cost effective and timely delivery of the designated components. Full planning and control of demand and production requirements.
• Cost effective and on-time delivery of components and products from the Cell to the Customer.
• Develop a team culture which is customer focused, primarily, on improved flexibility of operations.
• Develop and promote the application of the continuous improvement process.
• Manage and administer staff.
• To maintain regular communication with all employees in line with the team briefing strategy.
• To ensure the Company/Site policies with regard to holidays, sickness absence, disciplinary and grievance are implemented consistently and fairly.
• Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
• Undertake TPM (Total Productive maintenance) on machine tools.
