  Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to ensure that the IT infrastructure that underpins the business is fit for purpose.

The infrastructure analyst is responsible for maintaining, documenting and continually improving IT systems across the Neptune estate, to ensure they are robust, performant and secure.

The IT Infrastructure Analyst also provides a point of escalation for infrastructure related queries. 

    Job Responsibilities

Understand Neptune’s IT infrastructure

• Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation of the infrastructure that underpins the IT systems that run in all Neptune locations.
• Provide a point of escalation for relevant IT queries, helping the team to diagnose and resolve software, hardware and/or networking issues

Optimise speed, performance, security and resilience of IT systems

• Specify and schedule appropriate maintenance activities to keep all systems in good health
• Develop, document and regularly test backup and recovery processes to ensure business continuity in the event of system failure
• Validate any changes that might impact the smooth running of Neptune’s systems
• Diagnose and rectify problems with the infrastructure as and when they arise
• Implement and develop appropriate security policies

Suggest improvements to Neptune’s IT infrastructure

• Identify areas with potential for improvement
• Propose changes
• Where appropriate, work with outside contractors with specialist skills and manage them to maximise the return on investment to the business 

Manage changes to the IT infrastructure

• Coordinate with other stakeholders to minimise service interruption

Share knowledge with the IT team in order to help them develop their skills and offer a continually improving service to the business
