Purpose
-Strategically develop and maintain reliable and constructive relationship with Chinese suppliers for die casting, powder metal and plastic commodities; follow defined source process to procure powertrain parts at the most competitive levels based on cost, quality and delivery standards and expectation. Effectively manage die casting, powder metal, plastic commodity in China to support Magna Powertrain's regional and worldwide business growth and report to management.

Job Responsibility:
-Identify potential new suppliers;
-Negotiate contractual terms and conditions (T&C's) in advance
-Onside audit together with SQE
-Volume bundling and contract negotiation together with advanced and operational purchasing regional and globally to achieve cost saving targets
-Define and implement regional commodity strategies according to global strategies
-Support quote to the customer jointly with cost estimator
-Plan and track project activities within Purchasing (internal project kick-off, etc)
-Perform and lead RFQ activities (china and export), incl. technical and commercial workshops, prepare cost comparison, organize sourcing councils, perform negotiations
-Nominate suppliers (LTA and Tooling PO to be send from plant)
-Order PT parts from mass production suppliers
-Handover project and operational purchasing after approved PPAP and R@R
-Support MPT global and domestic purchasing activities
n Ensure competitive and accurate quotes from Chinese supplier base to support new program acquisition locally and for export
n Build and maintain reliable and constructive relationship with strategic suppliers
n Provide clear and accurate cost breakdown to drive fact based negotiations
n Source new parts in time within finance budget/required capacity/feasibility/timing plan
-Respond to purchasing related requests from NA/EU/Asia with sense of urgency
-Maintain clear RFQ and business tracking mechanism / documentation management as well
-Ensure clear communication with NA/EU/Asia
-Mitigate supplier price increase requests by leveraging global volumes and new programs
-Successful implementation of global and domestic sourcing projects
-Accountability together with SQE for all programs sourced and all purchasing related launch activities (flaw less launch), provide accuracy and timely update
-Implement Global Purchasing Strategy for commodities in China
-Refine cost engineering (cost model) capability
-Capability to participate on global phone conferences and explain and defend actively purchasing interests

Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or related area (or equivalent work experience)
-3+ years experience in purchasing/trading of powertrain/drivetrain parts for vehicles, preferably with purchasing experience in die casting, powder metal and plastic .
-Strong negotiation skills, communication skills, coordination skills, and problem solving skills
-Can-do attitude, proactive team player and highly dedicated
-Fluent English in both speaking and writing
-Highly computer proficient with experience in the Microsoft Office Programs and purchasing software
-Travelling in China will be required

Physical Demands
-Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer, requires travel.
