Position Summary:
Provide technical solutions to the customers on application/engineering issues, with focus on Japanese Automotive and other markets. Work closely with the sales team to explore new applications for products, serve as key technical contact with customers’ Engineering team, develop necessary tools and training material, conduct training seminars, and assist in application engineering of products as required.
Scope/Supervision and Interaction:
Reports to Application Engineering Manager, AP and works with Japan Sales Managers, Distributors, Customers and Operational teams, to grow the business in Japan and other regions as needed.
Essential Functions:
A) Provides application engineering support for core product platforms (40%)
1. Provides off-site or on-site technical assistance to customers
2. Coordinates activities with Inside Sales Rep’s, Field Sales and manufacturing team.
3. Support the Inside Sales on customers incoming technical and applications inquires (via email/phone/fax).
B) Performs and manages Applications related projects for key customers, and ensures in-sync with commercial objectives/values, to support the business growth. (40%)
C) Work with Sales Manager, potential customer and R&D engineer on New Product Development, assist in communicating with customer, collecting feedback and solving any potential application issues (10%)
D) Develops and implements annual SOP’s (Standards of Performance). (10%)
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering.
2. +5 years application engineering or design experience in Automotive or related industries.
3. Demonstrated fluent and effective verbal/written Japanese, especially in technical related subjects
4. Demonstrated effective verbal/written English communication skills.
5. Regular travelling to Japan and other regions in Asia, able to travel at short notice
6. Thermal and EMI materials application experience preferred
7. PC Proficient (MS Word, Excel, Project, AutoCAD preferred).
