Job Title Technical Assistant Manager
Department Commercialization

Report to Pre-Production Senior Manager
Job Summary
This position assists in managing TOMS’ technical teams, provides technological advancement opportunities and solutions to technical challenges for product development and production, and maintains the Construction Control Sheet SOP (Standard Operating Procedures). The candidate will ensure that products are well suited for the marketplace and our manufacturing partners to achieve and support the global sourcing initiative.
Essential Functions
? Assist with leading technical team to provide support for product development.
? Collaborate with technical, development, design, and development center teams on tooling i.e. last, paper patterns, blue prints, molds, etc.
? Evaluate and analyze new product designs from HQ to ensure best practices are established and utilized.
? Review and provide fit comments with related technical team on new products.
? Maintain standards for shoe last measurement, outsole, and material gauges to be followed through the use of the Construction Control Sheet (CCS).
? Communicate and provide solutions to technical challenges through the use of the Risk Assessment Control Sheet (RACS).
? Execution of Sample Requests (SRs) by providing technical support to the sample development teams and development centers.
? Participate in weekly team meeting to monitor status of the projects.
? Assist in maintaining, updating, and deploying Development SOPs.
Assist with leading technical team to provide support to production.
? Provide technical support to the pre-production and production teams.
? Assist in performing Cutting Dye Test (CDT) for new products.
? Participate in spot-checking production process to resolve technical and quality challenges to ensure on-time delivery.
? Communicate development risks to pre-production and production teams through the use of RACS to ensure smooth production and quality integrity.
? Assist and review as needed with related technical team on full size fitting and grading.
? Collaborates with quality assurance teams and manufacturing partners to ensure best practices are applied for production.
? Evaluate and analyze data received from HQ concerning production fit with the related quality assurance team.
? Assist in maintaining, updating, and deploying the Quality Assurance SOPs.
? Maintains, updates, and deploys the RACS.
Other Responsibilities.
All other duties as assigned accordingly.
Essential Skills
? Advanced experienced in the field of footwear product development, pre-production, and production process.
? Well organized and structured to meet all timelines as agreed.
? Ability to work in lean, fast-paced changing environment, highly collaborative, multi-national teams and must be comfortable with embrace consensus decision-making.
? Technical knowledge of various footwear machineries and footwear constructions.
? Proven ability to resolve technical challenges.
? Advanced knowledge in last, pattern, and outsole making skills in various footwear categories.
? Ability to set-up production lines and machineries based on different construction.
? Good oral and written communication skills to both internal and external team members.
? Fluent in English and Mandarin both written and oral.
? Proficient in MS Word, PPT, Excel, Photoshop, and PLM.
Qualifications
? 10+ years experience in footwear product development and production or equivalent
? BA/BS in Engineering or equivalent
? Accessories, Six-Sigma, LEAN experience preferred
Special Requirements
? Expect approximately 20-30% travel both domestic and international.
