Role Summary/Purpose
The Industrial Designer works within global, cross-functional product development teams to optimize the design of the digital and physical user experience by applying deep domain expertise in industrial design theory and techniques, and an awareness of user needs derived through formal research. Essential Responsibilities
Duties include (but are not limited to): • Proactively seek to understand the true underlying problems and unmet needs of customers and end users by participating in formal research activities across all phases of the product lifecycle. • Applying the results of user research toward conceptualizing and generating intuitive and functional solutions for medical device hardware, software, and solutions. Representative components include system enclosures, controls & displays, and patient positioning systems. Representative Deliverables include sketches, 2-D and 3-D conceptual models that apply a range of low- through high-fidelity techniques, and ergonomic assessments. • Executing against a set of design philosophies and principles that ensure an extraordinary sensitivity to product aesthetics, design Language, ease-of-use, and behavior across the GE Healthcare portfolio. • Collaborating with hardware engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to create and execute platform-level strategies that promote ease-of-use and consistency of design attributes across GE Healthcare products. • Translating concepts and prototypes into formal design requirements and specifications documents including CMF specifications and CAD geometry. • Collaborating across relevant stakeholders to balance user, business, and technical requirements, and to ensure that design recommendations are incorporated within commercialized products. • Working with Quality & Regulatory teams and with external standards committees to ensure medical regulatory requirements are integrated within the product development process. • Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position • Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required • Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible • Support closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements prior to completing Design Outputs and Program Deliverables

Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor of Arts with concentration in Industrial Design or equivalent degree.• 3 years progressive experience working as an industrial designer• Portfolio demonstrating Design thinking and Creative problem solving skills. Professional communication of ideas and concepts using compelling Design story telling techniques.• Track record of delivering 2-D & 3-D conceptualization and CAD deliverables that strongly demonstrate both technical competency and strong creative sensitivity to aesthetics and empathy towards a variety of users. • Strong communications (written and verbal), negotiation, and problem solving skills.• Strong level of self-motivation and ability to work independently.• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%, including overnight stays.• Expert in the use of 2D visual design tools such as Adobe Photoshop and 3D CAD applications such as Rhino or Pro/E or similar.• Strong command of the various rapid prototype techniques and tools necessary to produce full-size or scale models of design solutions.

• Track record of designing products which have been successfully commercialized.• Fluent in English and Chinese• Experience working within the consumer electronics and healthcare/medical devices sectors. • Track record of generating intellectual property.• Experience working within international corporations and cross-functional teams.• Portfolio demonstrating successful examples of conceptual designs, customer focused creative problem solving, strategic design thinking with a strong sensitivity to form and proportions.
