Department: Global Procurement

Position: Buyer Consumables - Global Procurement Organization

Reports to: Procurement Manager or Director Procurement

Location: Shenzhen, China


POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Responsible for supporting the sourcing and sourcing management activities including the development and implementation of homecare and consumable product category strategies. Participate on sourcing teams and work closely with team members to achieve objectives and results for their categories including the implementation of new suppliers. Monitor supplier performs and proactively monitor market conditions to identify new opportunities or potential risk to the business.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Engage and align with internal customers/stakeholders: Engage and assist with the implementation of consumable product sourcing methodologies to optimize procurement activities associated with the development of category strategies and the effective and timely implementation of the strategies.
  2. Understands external market factors and their implications and build in the plan and approach to address them as part of the category strategy and annual profit plan.
  3. Demonstrate expertise in the engagement and utilization of procurement tools including RFx's, contracting and scorecards/reports/communications, etc.
  4. Participate in negotiations for the direct materials categories.
  5. Help drive compliance to Procurement Policies and Procedures.
  6. Support the preparation of annual sourcing plans linked to direct material category strategies and annual profit plans in order to maximize value contribution, drive improvements and minimize risks.
  7. Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future supply availability and recommend optimal procurement channels.
  8. Perform in-depth analysis of assigned material categories to identify and understand future price trends and budget cost projections.
  9. Support negotiations to maximize the delivery of value to the business.
  10. Understand the capabilities of the supply base and select suppliers based on best-in-class criteria to ensure the reliable delivery of consistently high quality products.
  11. Conduct business in an ethical and professional manner to ensure avoidance of all actual and potential conflicts of interest.
  12. Utilize the E-Procurement system and stay familiar with current sourcing technology.
  13. Understand vendor competence and competitive marketing conditions as they relate to category.
  14. Monitor supplier and product performance to ensure they continually meet the highest standards.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Operations, Supply Chain or comparable disciplines. Industry certifications a plus.
  • Some international experience in procurement or comparable function is highly desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPENTENCIES:

1. PROCUREMENT SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Some knowledge and understanding of procurement and best-in-class practices, principles, process, tools and methodologies.
  • Able to develop and demonstrate the successful implementation of sourcing strategies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the raw materials supply market, industry and category dynamics is preferred.
  • Demonstrates strong business judgment and critical thinking to create and evaluate innovative options and uses a fact based decision making process to develop and implement strategies that will drive positive results and deliver value.
  • Able to develop a working knowledge in key procurement areas including:

- Cost Modeling/TCO

- Legal and Contract law

- Commodities, new product development and sourcing

  • Effectively assesses risk and implements mitigation plans to either prevent or minimize impact to ensure business continuity.

  • Capable of technical and commercial assessments and appraisals of new products and existing sources of supplies.

  • Understands the key business drivers and requirements to build and sustain sourcing strategies and best in class procurement processes and practices.
  • Able to engage and work with stakeholders to understand business requirements and gain support for the development, approval and implementation of procurement and sourcing strategies.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills including and understanding and application of financial analysis tools and risk
  • Keeps abreast of key market information, trends, and innovations needed to continue to drive excellence.
  • Develops knowledge of Enterprise Resources Planning software and procurement systems and their functionality.
