Role Summary/Purpose

The Lead Process Engineer is responsible for water, water reuse and wastewater process designs within the respective region. The position requires a combination of process design expertise in water and wastewater treatment along with commercial expertise in technical sales and customer relationship. The position provides technical leadership within the Region.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Prepare/Review all final Process Designs (e.g.: firm proposals and final budgetary quotes) for accuracy, competitiveness and compliance with design standards in the Region. 2. Review all final proposals and bid documents for tendered projects in the Region. Develop bidding strategies and design concepts with Application Engineer and Commercial Developer to win. 3. Assist Commercial Developer and Reps in strategic positioning on key projects in Region. 4. Develop process designs and experimental program for water & wastewater pilots. Review and approve operating changes. Review proposals prepared by Pilot Project Manager. Review and approve pilot reports. 5. Develop/maintain relationships with key regional consultants. 6. Assist Commercial Developer with sales calls to owners and consultants. 7. Assist with coordination of work and priorities within the Region. 8. Mentor Applications Engineers for process design. 9. Stay on top of regulatory requirements within the region. 10. Provide process design support to OTR following project award as required. Prepare Process Descriptions, Review AO package, control narrative, engineering drawings for all new water/wastewater projects in the Region. 11. Provide process support and expertise during start-up and commissioning of projects as required. 12. Provide process support and trouble shooting for existing plants as required. 13. Provide support to Service when required on a case by case basis. 14. Review and become knowledgeable with competing membrane technology 15. Present Technical Papers at conferences or seminars. 16. Document lesson learned from operating plants and provide feedback to Process Group and Engineering.

Qualifications/Requirements

1. Minimum of 5 years practical experience, preferable greater than 8 years in process design of water and wastewater treatment systems. 2. The incumbent should be familiar with membranes as well as conventional treatment unit operations such as sand filtration, DAF, clarification, coagulation, biological treatment. 3. Professional engineering designation strongly encouraged. 4. Post graduate engineering degree is a strong asset. 5. MBR and UF design experience and familiarity is a strong asset. 6. Fluent in both the respective main regional language and English (verbal and written) is essential.
