Location: Shanghai or Tianjin or Beijing
Scope/Supervision and Interaction:
Position reports to the Vice President of Operations. The position is matrixed to the Vice President of Lean Enterprise & Quality.
Lean Description
Position Summary:
Responsible for the Lean Transformation of the Group as measured by:
- Lean Journey Assessment
- Financial performance measures (ROS, RONA)
- Lean Report Card measures
Essential Functions:
Primary accountability for the Group's successful lean transformation as documented through the above position summary measures.
1. Responsible for the Group's lean implementation strategy and execution, utilizing the Lean System to include:
- Group-level macro value stream maps (current & future) developed
- Value streams identified and framed in a manner that is meaningful to the business and expedient for the transformation
- Organizational structure reviewed and resources are aligned for the lean transformation
- Lean Journey Assessments are conducted, reviewed and scores verified
- Tracking Centers (Group, Site & Value Stream) and Team Improvement Boards are operational with Plan-Do-Check/Reflect-Act institutionalized
- Regular and frequent progress reviews and dialogues with external sensei's to ensure that a strong foundation is being developed and the desired pace is attained
- Application of lean in strategic non-manufacturing areas
- Ownership of Model Sites/Divisions in achieving their objectives
2. Responsible, along with the Divisional General Managers, for the education and development of the Group Staff and Divisional Lean Managers to include:
- Education and development of functional Group staff in Lean Thinking
- Specific development plans for divisional lean resources
3. Engaged in providing input and support in the maturation of the Lean System to include:
- AFE process engagement (significant capital and all site expansions)
- Acquisition process (operations due diligence and acquisition integration)
4. Engaged in supporting key corporate initiatives such as:
- Company's new product innovation and commercialization system
- Company's Value Analysis - Value Engineering tool
- Operating Protocol
- Strategic Pricing
- Strategic Procurement
Qualifications:
- 4 year degree, Masters degree preferred
- 7-10 years of manufacturing experience
- Primary role in a Lean Transformation
- Educated in Lean thinking with demonstrated abilities in Lean skills (Value Stream Transformation, Visual Management, Lean fundamentals, etc.)
- Interpersonal & Leadership:
- Strong presentation skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Good understanding of financial measures
- Strong interpersonal communications
Quality Description
Position Summary:
- Provide leadership and management of the quality function , in accordance with all applicable company regulations, policies, and procedures. Responsible for ensuring that quality program policies, plans, standards and requirements are met.
Essential Functions:
- Assure quality requirements are adequately defined at all functional levels to permit appropriate quality planning and verification of compliance. Coordinate TQM efforts across business units.
- Identify, develop and implement new methods of quality management and systems, and audit existing systems to meet division initiatives, ISO9000, and other customer requirements.
- Provide quality-oriented leadership in achieving facility quality objectives. Interfaces with internal and external customers to provide comprehensive responses and technical assistance regarding quality systems and/or products.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance activities for all purchased material, equipment, parts, and processing. Manage supplier quality audits and corrective action plans. Integrate and monitor supplier quality performance with divisional objectives.
- Utilize automated systems where available to proactively plan, implement and track quality systems and processes.
- Maintain the highest degree of customer service, throughput, quality, cost reduction and people productivity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job. Five to seven years applicable experience in a world-class manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.
- Effective facilitation and coaching skills.
- Knowledge of and experience in Total Quality concepts and ISO procedures.
- Knowledge and experience with statistical improvement methods, and corrective action development experience.
- Managerial experience, with demonstrated ability to provide leadership and motivation to employees.
- Limited travel will be required.
