Position Purpose
* Discuss and prepare the oil and fats NPSS design, execution and value contribution with the requestor (e.g. project leader, TS, commercial manager),
* Manage the execution of the trials with expertise, including data evaluation and reporting to the requestor.
* Being the food safety representative, responsible for following and realizing all necessary requirements. Also responsible for compliance with safety requirements for all activities in the pilot plant

Principal Accountabilities
1. Internal technical support 60%:
Support Technical Service team in obtaining growth opportunities through customer focus innovation.
* Manage in-coming projects and prioritize the tasks.
* Investigate product quality related complaints.
* Conduct pilot plant trials to verify product formulations and process performance to scale up to plant conditions.
* Review process results, report on trials and where necessary make recommendations on processing to operations.

2. High Performance 40%:
* Ensure all relevant documentation is in place to support technical service and product development (e.g. trial reports, process recommendation and processing trials database).
* Manage equipment resources.
* Improve work process in pilot lab (layout, equipment, work flow, etc) to ensure zero accident.
* Improve work process in pilot lab in terms of equipment, calibration, work flow, etc to achieve higher work efficiency.
* Continuously develop oneself and one’s knowledge in food safety, oils and fats chemistry, application and processing.
* Have a good working relationship with the quality, technical and operations functions.

Essential Functions/Requirements
* The responsibilities of the Product Development Engineer are related to the technical service support function for the ROAP, China.
* The ability to co-ordinate internal and external resources to execute responsibilities. Good working relationships are essential.
* Ability to communicate with a diverse range of personnel, e.g. plant operators, quality and technical services.
* Process orientated and hands on.
* Able to manage time and priorities.

Education, Experience, Skills
* University degree in Science, Food Science/Technology, Engineering or related discipline.
* 5to 10 years of working in a laboratory, technical or operations environment which is a part of a food company. Preferably in oil and fats manufacturing industry
* Applied knowledge in a science, food technology or engineering field (experience oil processing would be preferable)
* Some experience in oils and fats development.
* Some exposure to the different oils process units.
* Some exposure to HACCP, EHS, Laboratory testing, product development
* Having strong analytical knowledge and able to troubleshoot problems
* Work independently
* Effective communication (written and oral)
