· Work closely with Pepkor Retailers


2. Supplier management (sourcing)

· Define the fabric developing process and new policies to create efficiency internal and externally

· Implement the new process to provide high level forecast

· Work with retailers to investigate fabric consolidation and aggregation opportunities as far as possible

· Explore buying “own” fabric / greige / yarn opportunities for “bulk” purchases, programs and replenishment lines

· Define different strategy for material supplier that best fit the supply chain.


3. Operational

· To provide a comprehensive raw material service for apparel, soft and hard home-ware and footwear, which includes:

· Direction and trends on substrates and finishes

· Best value locations and suppliers for all bulk raw materials

· Best negotiated prices for all bulk materials

· Comprehensive physical and digital library of available raw materials (fabric and trims).

· The main driver will be to reduce FOB

· Establish best practices for buying fabric e.g. owning greige, placing deposits, negotiating bulk “on behalf” of suppliers etc

· , procedures and material control systems

· Offer technical expertise to cross functional project teams


4. Product

· Evaluation of fiber / yarn types and blends, fabric construction and weights, substrates, finishes etc. to provide direction for buying teams on best value offer

· Prepare the fabric books for each retailer

· Decision Tree Designed for merchandise team

Coaching and supervising

· Establish relationships with relevant stakeholders (who are responsible for the Buying and Quality strategy) in each company within the Pepkor group; to source information and communicate expectations to the Merchandise Category Managers

· Support to conduct the workshop and training for the buyers and merchandise team

Job incumbent requirements

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, ORGANISATIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES

EXPERIENCE

10 years relevant technical knowledge in ladies, men’s and children underwear and outerwear (min 2 years in international company – cooperation with the buyers from abroad) Solid experiences’ in Fabric and textile.


QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION

Tertiary qualification in Textiles and/or Shoes and/or Homeware, with Quality Assurance as a subject


FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

A sound knowledge and understanding of the clothing industry, including: fabrics, patternmaking and fitting of garments, grading, garment construction and production, costing

Good written and spoken in English

The possibility of travels in China and also abroad
