Job Title Accessory Development Manager
Department Supply Chain
Location Putian
Report to Development Director
Job Summary
This position establishes and manages TOMS' accessories teams in conjunction with our strategic business partners to ensure on-time delivery of samples. The candidate is flexible and skilled in but not limited to bags, apparel, eyewear, or etc. development with the understanding and adherence of a product development calendar, and other attributes as described in this document to effectively execute and support the overall global sourcing strategy.
Essential Functions
? Optimizes and develop as needed best practices across all accessory types and collaborates with the US design teams to achieve target goals for development needs.
? Communicate with the US on strategic value engineering to ensure and manage target cost are met for samples developed
? Continuously seek innovative technology to improve/develop product samples
? Ensures smooth transition of data product from development to production
? Proactively develops, manages, execute, and communicate implementation plans to reduce product risk to all related parties
? Provides progressive development methodologies to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and continuously improve quality and results
? Travels both domestically and internationally as needed to review and resolve product development inquiries
Manages and collaborate with all accessory vendor development centers to achieve targeted performance, cost, and quality to support sample development.
? Creates, maintains, updates, and implements TOMS Accessory Development SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) with internal and external partners
? Creates and monitors the performance of the development partners to ensure that all delivery dates are correct and met
? Establishes and conducts daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly performance management reviews with all accessory vendors as well as conducting regular meetings with the China development and US design teams
? Partners with key stakeholders to resolve development, technical, and quality inquiries to drive overall improvements to TOMS’ standards
? Creates, maintains, updates, modifies, and communicates vendor scorecard for all accessory vendors
? Supports the global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy by ensuring its implementation and maintenance with all accessory vendors
Leads China Accessory Development teams to achieve best in class results and provides strategic initiatives.
? Oversees all functions of China Accessory Development teams but not limited to recruiting, attending trade shows, improving vendor selections, and other operations essential to the success of the team
? Assists in coaching and training key talent, both on an individual and team basis
? Creates, maintains, updates, and deploys TOMS Accessory Development SOP that are integrated with internal and external partners
? Builds and maintains a positive, collaborative relationship between other TOMS’ departments, external partners, and customers as needed
? Supports global sourcing by implementing management initiatives and leading teams to establish best governance practices, develop core processes and controls, improve delivery and reliability, quality and build overall accessory development operational capabilities
Other Responsibilities.
? All other duties as assigned accordingly
Essential Skills
? Advanced material components experience in development, commercialization, and or manufacture of bags, apparel, eyewear or other accessories
? Able to work independently as well as part of a team
? Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious and provides complete follow-through on areas of responsibility
? Proven ability to build enduring professional relationships with local suppliers and global partners
? Well organized and structured to meet all timelines as agreed
? Ability to work in a lean, fast-paced/changing environment, highly collaborative, multi-national teams, and must be comfortable with and embrace consensus decision-making
? Strong oral and written communication skills with other internal team members and external partners
? Strong in MS Word, PowerPoint, Access, and PLM/SAP experience
? Fluent in English and Mandarin
Qualifications
? Minimum of 10+ years of accessory development in bags, apparel, eyewear, or etc.
? Management position within a multi-national company preferred
? Footwear development experience preferred
? B.A./B.S. degree in Engineering/Quantitative majors preferred
? Master’s degree preferred
Special Requirements
? Expect approximately 15-20% travel required both domestic and international
