Perform scientific experiments or pilot plant processes for salt selection and polymorphism screening in collaboration with a multifunctional project team coordinated by a senior expert. Contribute to maintenance of lab instruments/infrastructure.

2. Design, perform and document scientific experiments/plant activities in collaboration with experienced team members if necessary. Seeks proactively for support and coaching from Project Leader or Scientific Expert/or other team members during the whole process if necessary. (I)
3. Provide documentation of raw data, evaluation and contribute to interpretation of results. Provide input for the selection of next experiments. (I)
4. Optimize existing methods (lab or plant) or contribute to new method development and reproduce published methods. (I)
5. Actively support the transfer of analytical or manufacturing procedures to pilot plant or production, including process steering controls etc. (I)
6. Provide raw data documentation, evaluation and results interpretation. Propose and provide input for the design of next experiments. (I)
7. Communicate and address problems, perform safety and literature searches under guidance from more experienced team members. (I)
8. Address simple problems. Recognize and communicate complex problems within he project team or network if necessary together with the respective Project Leader, Network leader or Senior Scientific Expert or a relevant team member. (I)

20. Under supervision, perform salt, co-crystal, and polymorphism screening, and physicochemical characterization of APIs and intermediates.

Education (minimum/desirable):
Minimum: Technician with continuing education (EU) or BS (US) or equivalent

Desirable: MS (US) or equivalent in chemistry or pharmaceutical science education - with 0-2 years working experience for MS, or 0-4 years for BS.

Languages:
Fluent in Mandarin Chinese language. Adequate knowledge of English (oral and written).

Experience/Professional requirement:
1. Minimum of 3 years experience as Technician (promotional pathway) or 0-4 years (for BS) or 0-2 years (for MS).
2. Awareness for safe handling of chemicals, potentially dangerous materials and equipment.
3. Adequate scientific or technical knowledge in a specific area (e.g. synthetic, analytical, galenical).
4. Basic knowledge in scientific/technical areas of collaboration.
5. Good knowledge of laboratory and/or technical tools.
6. Adequate knowledge of software and computer tools.
7. Basic presentation skills.
8. Good written and verbal communication skills.

As a member of a newly formed, dynamic salt and polymorphism group, at the interface of research, process chemistry, and formulation science, the individual selected will be responsible for performing the experiments to obtain and characterize new APIs. He/she will be performing crystallization/precipitation studies to produce and characterize new API salt forms, co-crystals, polymorphs, and pseudopolymorphs. He/she will employ appropriate analytical methodology and procedures necessary to assess API properties, support chemical process development activities, and conduct relevant studies to support API scale up activities.

In addition, the selected candidate will be expected to maintain an effective team environment, effectively communicate data, and learn how to identify and solve analytical problems and implement innovative solutions.
