I.  JOB SUMMARY
 
This position will be responsible for providing industrial hygiene support to chemical manufacturing and research facilities located at Zhangjiagang.
 
Depending upon the skill set of the candidate this may be either a IH Technician or an IH Professional role.
IV.  MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
 
In this role, specific job duties will include:
 
Anticipating hazards through participation in capital project reviews, process change reviews, and new material introduction reviews
Assessing hazards using investigative exposure assessment techniques (including application of the corporate qualitative exposure assessment toolkit and applications of traditional industrial hygiene quantitative exposure assessment methodologies)
Proactively managing risk through consultative support relating to use of inherently safer materials, engineering controls, work practices, training and personal protective equipment ensembles
 
Assist in the completion of occupational exposure evaluations and monitoring to characterize chemical and physical hazards within the work environment.  Primary industrial hygiene support activities include, but are not limited to: (1) perform exposure monitoring for atmospheric contaminants and physical agents encountered in the work environment; (2) evaluation of ventilation systems; (3) compile observations and data from work environment investigations; (4) assist in he the preparation of written reports of occupational survey results, and (5) maintain, calibrate, prepare, and use of industrial hygiene testing equipment.
 
Additional responsibilities, depending on skills, could include conduction of governance audits, participation in the development of internal occupational exposure limits, interfacing with customers pertaining to requests for safe handling guidance on *** products, and supervision of technician resource.
 
 
 
V.  QUALIFICATIONS & ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
 
Degree in industrial hygiene (or related health & safety discipline)
3 to 8 years of experience in industrial hygiene, preferably in specialty chemical manufacturing
Demonstrated ability to apply professional judgment to exposure estimation in absence of measurement data
Demonstrated ability to design, conduct and document quantitative worker exposure assessments
Demonstrated ability to advocate change at various levels within an organization
Demonstrated ability to define risk-based exposure mitigation controls
Good oral and written communication skills Chinese and English.
Ability to be self-directed in daily work tasks
Knowledge of state occupational health and safety regulations
