Position purpose:
The position of Lean Engineer within the LSO organisation exists to support APA material cost reduction (TVM) targets for current and future model programs. Cost reduction is achieved through the identification and implementation of waste reduction opportunities in the supply chain value stream and value chain.  Standardised lean tools and processes are utilised to facilitate the implementation of corrective actions for both non-design and design opportunities in support of commercial negotiations by local or regional Buyer.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
- Trained by Ford Global LSO experts to understand the LSO process and objectives
- Adhere to the standardised Ford Global LSO process with Asia Pacific & Africa (APA) suppliers to achieve the short and medium-term TVM (cost reduction) objectives.
- Identify various waste elimination opportunities within suppliers value stream (all tiers) by using globally aligned lean tools and benchmarks.
- Provide suitable coaching and adequate implementation support to suppliers while implementing improvement actions. 
- Execute the APA LSO workplan, implementation of corrective actions and proper hand over of a cost reduction opportunity to responsible buyer (cost reduction : to be negotiated by Purchasing buyer)
- Execute APA LSO workplan (Initial Site visits and Implementation follow up visits).
- Facilitate the sharing of APA LSO workplans and visit data with APA Purchasing team to connect with Ford global Purchasing Matched Pairs.
- Maintain alignment of APA LSO process with Ford Global LSO process with global process as it matures and priorities evolve.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering or Business
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of basic industrial engineering tools(motion and time study)
- Knowledge and application of basic lean tools
- Communication, planning and organizational skills
- Understanding of business drivers of both suppliers and Ford
- Cost estimating and benchmarking methodologies
- Technical development of lean and process improvement methodologies
- Initiative, resilience, communication and influencing skills
- Cross functional business acumen and familiarity with supplier and regional processes
- Practical and results focused
- Strong process discipline
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
