Summary

This position supports the existing environment team in China, working as part of a wider multi disciplinary team. The role will be to work closely with internal and external clients on all aspects of our environment projects delivering high quality products on time and on budget.

This position promotes a culture of ‘Safety First’, and ensures H&S Regulations and internal policies are adhered to in day-to-day work; working in a safe manner and challenging co-workers, including non ARCADIS staff, if actions appear unsafe.

On the job technical training will be provided but graduate level knowledge of key technical services (such as contaminated land, remediation, environmental science, waste water treatment, etc) will be an advantage.

Support development of proposals, reporting, and client interaction with the guidance from Senior, Principal, and Directors as required.

Key Responsibility

Gaining experience and proficiency in ARCADIS systems and procedures and developing a skills and knowledge base. This will include keeping up to date with relevant Environmental Legislation, Policy and Guidance etc;

Becoming familiar with ARCADIS’ safety procedures to promote a culture of Safety First and ensuring H&S issues are adhered to in your day to day role;

Analysing data effectively and undertaking desk-based studies and site visits and site-based works, when required;
Phase I and Phase II Assessments; including undertaking site investigations, soil and rock logging, soil and groundwater sampling and in situ testing;

Completing project documents to the high standard ARCADIS requires in accordance with project timescales and budget, client requirements as well as national standards and codes of practice and supporting senior colleagues as and when required.


Skills and Knowledge:

- Overview of Contaminated Land Risk Assessment and Remediation
- Willing to travel (~35%) in China and aboard, and to undertake site-based work
- Experience in soil, water or gas sampling
- Knowledge of China Environmental Legislation
- Knowledge of Environmental Assessment (Phase II) in the China.

Relevant Experience:
- > 2 years but < 5 years work experience in Environmental Consultancy
- Conducted Phase I/II projects in the field and associated reporting
- Bachelor degree in an Environmental Science or Engineering (or similar subject)
