Role Summary/Purpose

The Software Engineering Manager leads and executes product programs with cross-functional team leaders and individuals to meet customer requirements for product quality, cost, to ensure that new product development is done on-time, to right quality and cost.

Essential Responsibilities

Duties include (but are not limited to):
• Providing technical guidance to team members related to design and implementation alternatives.
• Provide coaching and mentoring to team members (eg., career goals, performance discussions, professional development)
• Communicate Business, functional and team information to employees using varied communications formats and styles as appropriate for the team’s success
• Providing direct management of development of engineers including staffing, performance management and compensation planning.
• Organizational planning and design Implementing new processes, techniques and tools to improve the quality of the applications delivered to our customers and the productivity of team members.
• Participating as a key member of the technical leadership team in developing the technical strategy and roadmap for our products.
• Working in cross-functional project teams that include Marketing, Quality Assurance, PL and internal engineering teams.
• Communicating with customers to better understand their needs and concerns.
• Drive advanced technology into product through innovation.
• Supporting existing products within manufacturing, sourcing , service and supplier quality engineering

Qualifications/Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field with 10 years experience in software development. Experience with Agile methodologies, software automation, and continuous process improvement.
• Minimum 7 years in software development with demonstrated technical leadership roles on complex software efforts
• Understanding of the software product development life-cycle
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally
• Proven mentoring and coaching abilities; demonstrated ability to motivate & inspire others
• Excellent communication both in Chinese and in English, influencing skills and ability to gain buy-in for initiatives
• Demonstrated ability to deliver results while working on multiple projects simultaneously, balancing resources, timing and quality of outcomes
• Demonstrated problem-solving and leadership skills

Desired Characteristics

1. Masters or PhD in Engineering or Physics
2. 7 years relevant industrial experience
3. Proven ability to work cross-functionally
4. Demonstrated project leadership and/or people management skills
5. Demonstrated supplier and manufacturing interface skills
6. Proven mentoring and coaching abilities; demonstrated ability to motivate & inspire others
7. Excellent communication, influencing skills and ability to gain buy-in for initiatives
8. Proven LEAN skills

10. Demonstrated problem-solving and leadership skills
