Profile Supplier Quality Engineer,AP Allegion
Reporting to: Regional Supplier Quality Manager
Position Overview
The SQE is responsible for executing both quality and technical assessments at supplier locations to determine capability, as well as support supplier source selection as the “Voice of Quality.” The position will drive supplier process and systemic quality improvements using SPC, Lean and Six Sigma tools to prevent quality non-conformances. This role is also responsible for effective execution of the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) disciplines for assigned suppliers. This position will work with Suppliers, Procurement, Component Engineering and Operations to establish strategic and comprehensive AQP activities which are aligned to the business objectives and customer expectations.
Responsibilities
? Leads initial Supplier orientation, provides on-boarding training as required.
? Provides support to procurement commodity team – providing the quality detail required to support source selection and rationalization.
? Provides Suppliers with technical oversight and expertise in areas such as Process Development, PFMEA, Measurement Systems, Control Plans and Error Proofing.
? Leads APQP reviews with Suppliers which include Design Specification, Pass Thru identification, Safe Launch Control, Launch Readiness and Run @ Rate.
? Drives on-time PPAP and Flawless Launch for responsible suppliers and components.
? Drives process and systemic quality improvements, at assigned supplier sites, through the use of quality tools (APQP, SPC, MSA and Six Sigma) and validates improvements through defined measurables to reduce quality non-conformances “SCAR”.
? Works in conjunction with Plant Quality and Suppliers in 8D problem solving - leading cross-functional teams on major issues resolution at Supplier locations.
? Supports training of internal staff along with other functions on Supplier Quality governance strategy, policy, procedures and work instructions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
? Solid understanding of Quality Management Systems ISO-9001/TS-16949
? Solid understanding of APQP process and documentation such as Flow Charts, d/pFMEA, Control Plans, MSA and PPAP
? Solid understanding of 8D Problem Solving using 5 Why
? Educated in statistical problem solving such as Six Sigma and/or Shainin.
? Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products and statistical software.
? Exposure to advanced lean tools such as TPS and Theory of Constraints.
? Experienced in dealing with a matrix organization with an international exposure
? 4 years technical engineering degree from an accredited university or college
? 5-8 years of Quality Engineering experience in different manufacturing settings
? 2-4 years direct manufacturing experience (in plant)
? Active knowledge about electronic and/or mechanical manufacturing processes and assembly
? Ability to travel up to 75%
? Office location for the position is preferably Carmel, IN; alternative office location might be agreed with regional leadership.
? Proficient in English (spoken and written), analytical approach. Multilingual is considered a strong asset.
? Strong people management and multitasking skills
