Job Title: Assistant Manager Procurement Functional Intermediates

Objectives:


• Buyer of Agro raw materials in the team Procurement Functional Intermediates of the department Direct Procurement Greater China;


• Ensure a competitive, sustainable and secured supply of raw materials to the sites within the defined area of responsibility.


• Support the team leader in his role as BU account manager in servicing BUs, especially AP, by coordinating with related buyers in the Procurement Hub on the one side and with BU supply chain and sales community on the other side in order to increase efficiency of internal processes.




Main Tasks:


• Responsibility as hub buyer for BASF Greater China according to the outlined procurement strategy. Main role: professional planning, steering, execution, and monitoring of strategic procurement activities.


• Responsibility as Best Cost Country Sourcing Buyer contributing to elaboration and implementation of related procurement strategies on behalf of and in collaboration with the overseas procurement organizations servicing BASF Group Companies outside of China. Main role: proactive sourcing to exploit China market opportunities and communication (promotion of new sources, regulatory watch), supervision of logistics support for own area.


• Responsible for a reliable, economic and competitively advantageous as well as sustainable supply of selected raw materials to BASF Greater China or overseas legal entities.


• Continuous supply market research for relevant raw materials and on relevant suppliers. Reporting and price forecasting for materials in own portfolio.


• Responsible for the local implementation of category procurement strategies in alignment and cooperation with the global category team under functional leadership of global and/or regional category buyers. Responsible for elaboration and implementation of procurement strategies for decentralized raw materials (CT-D) in alignment with the team leader.


• Collaboration, coordination and communication with internal Business Partners (iBP): Preparation and carrying out of round table and regular working level meetings, as well as strategic dialogues with relevant suppliers. Elaboration of input for supplier management.


• Project work: Participation, and if necessary leadership, in selected project teams and work groups.




Requirements:


• Education: Master degree preferred, preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering


• Working Experience: 5 years or above


• Technical & Professional Knowledge:


• Procurement’s strategy and goals – Profound knowledge required


• Procurement management – Profound knowledge required


• Contract management – Profound knowledge required


• Procurement processes and guidelines – Deep knowledge required


• Legal basics relevant for Procurement – Profound knowledge required


• Top suppliers and materials in own area – Deep knowledge required


• Good change management, conflict management, negotiation and communication skills required


• IT knowledge of SAP, SAP Business Warehouse and standard applications required
