Purpose of the position:
The Area Logistics Solutions Manager is responsible to efficiently working with both internal and external customers to understand requirements and develop logistics solutions for new opportunities and solutions for existing customers.
He/She will work closely with country project implementation team, Logistics Governance/Standards Team and Logistics operations. Also with the Logistics Tender support teams in the Competency Centers, regional and corporate bid teams, regional sales, and the Logistics Competence Centre Manager.
The primary purposes of this role are:
Handle all logistics related RFQs where solution design, cost modeling and proposal submission is needed
Serve as the knowledge expert for logistics solution modeling and optimization tools
Develop logistics solution and designs to support the M & S and BU sales effort for ultimate winning of logistics businesses
Warehouse and related logistics solution design/re - design
Develop cost modeling by use of PA standard cost model template
Key Tasks:
Operational Requirements and Solution Design Development
Work with internal and external stakeholders to fully define, understand, and document operational requirements for new and existing client opportunities.
Drive questions / clarification points for specific client opportunities to fully understand operational requirements
Assess the logistics opportunities by use of formalized assessment tool to determine whether if we should pursue. Seek management decisions if needed
Support the bid team as interface with client related to Logistics bid responses
Interaction with local operations teams in relations to facilities, resources, costing, etc. to support solution design activities
Responsibility for development the overall operational solution design on regional or global logistics bids for new and existing client opportunities
Support the development of logistics content for bids responses
Ownership for tailoring the Logistics Opportunity Questionnaires to support regional or local needs
Warehouse Design and Optimization
Development and recommendations for warehouse design in support of new opportunities
Support the design/re design and recommendations for warehouse improvements to support existing client operations or expansions.
Knowledge expertise related to warehouse infrastructure, automation, and operation efficiencies in new or existing client opportunities
Operational Costing and Business Case Development
Knowledge expert on the Corporate Activity Based Costing (ABC) model
Responsibility for translating client requirements and solution design into the ABC tool
Ensure that margins and profitability targets for solutions align with Corporate guidelines
Support the development of the overall logistics business case as required for new and existing client opportunities.
Logistics Modeling Knowledge Expertise (ex: Logivations, CAPS, CAST, etc.)
Knowledge expert for the various modeling and optimization tools that will be rolled out from the Corporate logistics team in support of new and existing client opportunities
Utilize Logivations tool to support warehouse design for new bid activity
Utilize Logivations tool to support redesign or optimization activities in existing Panalpina operations
Utilize Logivations tool to support the roll-out out of the tool to support local tactical operational planning
Skills & Competencies:
Broad end to end background in logistics and supply chain with core focus on contract logistics
Detailed logistics solution design or modeling experience
Organizational skills including prioritizing and planning
Ability to interact at all levels in an organization with strong customer facing skills
Self-motivated with ability to work independently or as part of a team
Strong knowledge related to logistics systems and integrations as well as how systems support operations and the overall supply chain.
Good hands on operation experience
Ability to work across an organization
Educational background / Work experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in the logistics industry
Minimum 3 years of in a Solution Design or Supply Chain Consultancy role
Experience with Logistics modeling or optimization tools
Graduate degree - bachelor required with IE, MBA preferable
Language skills
Fluent in English and Mandarin (written and spoken)
Computer Literacy
Knowledge of Supply Chain modeling, optimization, and design tools (ex: Logivations, CAPS, CAST, etc.)
Proficient in MS office platforms
