Job Purpose Statement

The overall objective is to provide strategic & technical direction of the Asia – Pacific Supplier Quality-Development organization in developing, executing and managing the supplier technical development process and activities for new product launch, supplier performance and capital projects in support of procurement’s initiative to deliver best total cost of ownership value and to ensure continuity of supply through a strategic supplier base which meets the business requirements in service, quality, and innovation. The Asia SQ&D Eng. Sr. Mgr. is responsible for managing the Asian SQE’s, developing and reporting on their progress, implementing the CTP quality system and processes across the Asian supply base in support of ISO9001:2008 quality system requirements with special regard to the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) in accordance with the overall CTP supplier quality directives.

The position reports to the CTP Director of Asia-Pacific Procurement, working closely with the CTP Sr. Mgr. of CTP Supplier Quality-Development Eng. and serves on the newly formed China Initiative team.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1 Manage suppliers through the AIAG APQP and PPAP processes.
2 Provide daily support to supplier’s quality/cost/delivery.
3 Conduct supplier process/product assessments.
4 Take lead role in the qualifying of new sources of supply, materials and components.
5 Drive supplier process/product improvement/cost reductions in accordance with Procurement global commodity managers.
6 Lead regularly scheduled supplier product, process and system audits.
7 Validate approved methods for analysis of failed/returned materials and corrective actions are in use at key suppliers.
8 Review yield, performance, and other statistical trend analysis and approve recommended product/process improvements.
9 Proactively lead problem solving activities for supplier issues.
10 Oversee/conduct internal audits of systems, processes, products.
11 Monitor the supplier part/service qualification and certification process, providing regular updates to the CTP project teams.
12 Generate quality related procedures and specifications.
13 Assist in maintaining Asian supplier NCR/CAR databases.
14 Provide ongoing management support to supplier - tooling development & verification
15 Monthly progress reports as required by CTP Supplier Quality & Development Sr. Mgr.
16 Other duties as assigned

Required Experience and Education:

1 5+ years successful procurement experience in a manufacturing organization
2 Proven track record of driving cost reduction through procurement of materials and collaboration with suppliers
3 Experience in developing a world-class Supplier Quality & Development organization
4 Practical knowledge of leading edge purchasing and supply chain strategies
5 Minimum 4 year undergraduate degree. MBA preferred, but not required
6 Strong negotiation and analytical skills
7 Experience in lean initiatives including sales and operations planning (S&OP), product rationalization,
value stream mapping, voice of the customer (VOC), and quality function deployment (QFD)
