POSITION TITLE
Sales & New Business Development Manager
LOCATION OF WORK
China, Shanghai
REPORTS TO
Director of Group
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Major Roles & Responsibilities:
New sales and application development
Build working relationships with key accounts, including followups
Conduct training and technical presentations to existing and/ or new customers
Work Output:
Sales numbers, number of potential application opportunities
Customer satisfaction index, share of wallet
Number of presentation and training sessions completed
Issues resolved, topics prioritization, frequency of communication
Sales reports, industry trends reports, AOP budget, work goals
Major obstacles / problems / challenges to deal with to complete work:
Ability to close sales, ability to identify new possible applications, ability to follow closely on new sales & application funnel
Ability to identify customers’ current and potential needs, resolving existing product & delivery issues, meeting deadlines and timelines
Ability to communicate effectively, ability to customize materials as required by customers
Language challenges, communication effectiveness, timeliness
Timeliness, completeness and usefulness of reports
IMMEDIATE CHALLENGES /PROJECTS
Assume the department manager role and ensure continuity in local activities
Maintain service levels to existing customers
Followup on ongoing new applications/ opportunities
Participate in upcoming annual budget planning process
TRAVELLING REQUIREMENTS
International – once/ twice per year, mainly to United States
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Sales targets achievement
Number of new application collaboration with customers
Timely submission of critical reports
CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS
BUlead in Asia
CRITICAL CHARACTERISTICS / BEHAVIORS THAT ARE REQUIRED FOR GOOD PERFORMANCE
Able to lead a team and be a team player at the same time
Self motivated, driven to target achievement, committed to learning
Willingness to take on additional responsibilities, including the willingness to work at night, given the nature of the role and the communication parties in US
Good communication skills (both written and oral)
Language competence in English and Chinese is essential
WORKING EXPERIENCE &/OR TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
At least 8 years’ experience in industrial sales, with at least 3 years in a managerial role, proven track record in sales expansion (both revenue & share of wallet
Regional exposure in multinationals is an added advantage
Working knowledge of JD Edwards software and Salesforce.com is an added advantage
Technical knowledge of the following:
Metal working manufacturing processes & CNC operations
Standard quality & measuring equipment techniques
EDUCATION
Degree in Engineering, mechanical preferred
