Duties & Responsibilities

The Product Development Specialist will be taking a primary role on performing below duties for a group of Product Towers:

• To coordinate the inter-departmental product development process, from idea to conception, filing, launch and then product roll-out;
• To assist Product Towers in the technical underwriting aspects of product development such as drafting policy wordings, terms & conditions, and determining appropriate rates;
• To maintain a product development/ filing log and facilitate prioritization of new products;
• To conduct regular competitor and market analysis of products in the marketplace and opportunities for product innovation. This will involve interaction with AIG Corporate Research & Development, external market survey firms, and other business partners;
• To work with Product Towers, Distribution channels, and customers directly to identify potential ideas for new product and product enhancements for both existing and new customer bases;
• To conduct product expectation study and retro analysis on business volume, segments targeting, market penetration, channel efficiency and high level profitability for some products, and provide effective suggestion for future new product development based on analysis
• To maintain the shared document library. This library should serve as the database of records for product-related content and be accessible to Product Towers as well as other departments where appropriate;

Key Measuring Parameters

• Support Product Towers to smooth the product filing process;

• Ensure both regulatory and internal compliance in product filing;

• Manage product filing related risk within appetite;
• Ensure new product launch procedure is well followed;
• Maintain the product library and filing log;

Candidate Specification

• Bachelor’s degree or above from a reputable university.
• Detail-oriented, with a high-sense of ownership to ensure work quality
• Preferably with 3-5 years’ experience in general insurance, especially in the area of product development, product filing or underwriting;
• Excellent communication skills, good teamwork spirit and ability to work under pressure.
• Fluency in both Chinese and English, both spoken and written
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office system;
